It may not be the biggest store near me, but I always feel welcomed and when I need water, milk, snacks, and sometimes a little toy or sword for my grandson it's reasonable. It's nice to see a family owned business in the neighborhood where you See the Family running it. God Bless You All.

This is so much more than a corner store. The owner, Tony (I call him Don Corleone-you'll get it if you come shop here while he's working) his wife and kids are truly kind, loving and generous people - the best kind of Americans and the best neighbors anyone could ask for. The store has all the usual general store fare and some less usual odds and ends (a single box of really good hair dye, not sure if they ordered more or not though) like cigarettes (even the good ones ) soda, pastries - including many locally made and fresh) toiletries and whatever else you might need at last minute. Tony has even tracked down things he didn't stock just to help out, for instance I was short on screws for a project and he dug up a bucket of really nice star screws a contractor had left there. He refused to let me pay him even a cent for them as is typical with Tony's generous nature. Watts has the reputation of a rough-and-tumble kind of area ..not unlike its neighboring city to the south, both of which have at this point mostly undeserved stigmas attached to them, but Tony is still very sensitive to this and always Checks in "has anyone been bothering me" or "come and let me know if anyone gives you a hard time around here". Nobody ever has but Tony is the kind of store owner who would keep the store open late to make sure a lost kid was able to reunite with its mother. I lost my beloved kitten in the area, and while I'm pretty sure Simba was adopted by somebody else, the Don was quick to lend his sympathy and offer me any one of the gatitos his own cat had recently given birth to once they were old enough to go out on their own, just not the orange one cause he said he wanted one "like Garfield". Institutions like this one are the reason gentrification needs to be addressed carefully. If the rent went up here and businesses like Tony's Super ever had to move - it wouldn't even be the same neighborhood anymore.
