Fixed my compact CD player while I waited, and I’m really grateful. Thank you Fred!

One of the few places still around that can effectively service high end audio and vintage equipment and do it well.I brought in a 1981 Sharp 5P-37G Television Boombox for restoration. They replaced the counter belt and cleaned the play take up idler wheel. I provided them a new fast wind gear and they did troubleshooting on the black and white television. They were more than fair in their assessment and sent text updates on the status of the product.I hope for their continuation as a business as they are providing a rare and valuable expertise. Especially given that most products churned out today end up in the landfill rather than restored. It's nice to know there are people such as Fred and Jordan who are fighting the good fight in the right to repair.

I shipped my SX 1280 from Hawaii to Classic Audio Repair after much thought and research. I started calling people on the west coast inquiring about a repair/restoration. I talked to Fred a few times and he was the most helpful and seemed willing to do the job. After much procrastination I shipped it out and they received it in one piece. Fred and Jordan keep it for several months and did their magic. My old SX 1280 is reborn! I’m completely satisfied with the results! I also think their prices are very good. I give them my highest recommendation.

Very happy with the service and speed at this place. All together it took like 5-6 weeks.I had my malfunctioning pioneer receiver in for service. First they ran a diagnostic and explained the issue for me in detail. I was given a choice if I wanted to get it fixed or take it home.I decided to have them repair the receiver. Now it works perfect again.I would recommend these guys. I will take my other vintage audio gear to this shop in the future.

I can recommend this business without reservations.A few weeks ago I brought my old Sansui receiver to Classic Audio Repair. It had problems that couldn't be immediately fixed, so I left it with them.It needed a lot of work, but it's back home and sounding good as I write this review. I'd forgotten how good a vintage receiver sounds. Thank you, Fred and Jordan.

Had two terrible run-ins with this guy. Complete jerk, but then again he's smarter than all of us so we must be wrong. He'll be quick to tell you his IQ is 155 ? can't really speak to his work.

I had this shop repair an amp/pre-amp combo some months ago. It stopped working entirely a couple of weeks ago. The owner argued that a 30/90-day warranty was better than the industry norm (it isn't -- at best it follows the industry norm). So, he would not stand by his botched repair. The cherry on top? His parting words before hanging up on me: "Find another place that's willing to take your d**k up their as*." Pure class. As you can see from the owner’s response, he didn’t refute a single one of my claims. If you want your repair to last less than a year, by all means go to him. On the plus side, the gratuitous obscenities are free.

Fred did a great job repairing my 1960 'S Gerard Classic Turntable. He was super knowledgeable and a nice guy. He is also an accomplished craftsman. HOWEVER, this Fred was Mr. Jeckel, and then I , and others, met Mr. Hyde. A Mr. Hyde with severe Anger management issues. His Anger Management skills were not consistent with his accomplished Technical skills. When I called him out for trashing my Shipping containers, which FedX would use in their damage assessment, or a Picture, to proceed with processing my $ 500 FedX Insurance Claim. Since Fred threw out the evidence for my insurance claim, I asked for $ 500 in damages for destroying MY Property, which made me unable to meet FedX's requests. In an instant, Fred went BERSERK, and screamed, "If I was younger I would smash in your Face". I am 85 and never in my lifetime have I ever witnessed such a Scary Demented, Rabid Melt-Down.I reported the incident to the La Mesa PD and was referred to this site where I may find similar complaints. Many!

These guys are awesome! I have a Fisher Studio Standard linear tracking turntable and ordered a new stylus for it. I couldn't get the new stylus to fit so I brought it to Classic Audio Repair in hopes that they could figure it out. They spent a good 40 minutes looking it over and finally figured out that the stylus I ordered (which was the part number indicated on the turntable) was the wrong stylus for my turntable. They were able to find the correct stylus in their shop and now my turntable is working once again. I never would have figured that out in a lifetime. I like the appointment method these guys use because it enables them to repair your equipment while you wait in some cases. I also got a stern lecture on how to properly clean a stylus (free of charge)! I'm very happy with my experience here and can highly recommend them. Just make sure you make an appointment.

I have an old suitcase record player that was repaired here a few weeks ago, it's been sounding great and actually working so I'm very happy. They do a great job of explaining what they're going to do, they seem to know their stuff, and know a lot more than I do for SURE! On the final invoice, they included a description of the work that was done, and provided a website for the cartridge/stylus and provided me the model number. Overall, I highly recommend Classic Audio Repair. They've done a wonderful job on my machine!
