Came here the other day with my wife to look for a jacket for a birthday present for her mom. We asked an employee for help and to point us in the right direction. The employee looked at my wife and said “I don’t think we’ll have your size.” My wife told them it was a birthday present for her mom and wasn’t for her. The employee then helped my wife find a jacket for her mom. Not impressed by that comment and will not give this place my business.

Every time I go to REI they have less and less things in stock and the things they do have they have less variety of. For example their shoes I used to go there because they had a big variety of shoes but now when I go they have the two ugliest colors usually and you can't even order the other colors online. Customer service has been declining as well when I went to return a pair of defective sunglasses the person helping me and was inspecting my sunglasses very suspiciously as if I did something to them on purpose. Then REI's new policy of not having any bags is so dumb. It's a retail store and they sell lots of little small items. They should at least offer the option to purchase a bag but they just hand you all your stuff and you're supposed to carry it in your arms out the door. Most REIs are in a shopping center where people are going to be doing additional shopping so what are they supposed to carry all their things around in their pockets and arms while they go to the next store? Just makes me not want to shop there anymore there's plenty of good deals online and at other stores.

REI has lots of cool stuff for all kinds of sports. I can always find things to add to my off-road trips from it.

Been going to the Huntington Beach location for a few years already, I’ve shopped around the store and have picked up online orders here. Usually the staff here is helpful and happy to impart whatever knowledge they have on products without coming off as rude or condescending.Today 3/24/24 I had the misfortune of dealing with possibly the snobbiest and most unprofessional grown man working a register. Robert rang me up today for a simple transaction and when he finished I asked a question on their bag policy. I asked if we are able to bring our own bags if they won’t be provided. He snobbily answered that I could check the policy and reminded me that REI is bag free(his second answer to a question I never asked) after which he tossed the receipt on top of my purchase on the counter and while I was getting my stuff he called the next customer.I reminded him I’m still getting my stuff which he completely ignores and acts like he doesn’t hear me.Completely ridiculous behavior out of someone working in a customer facing position especially from a man of his age that should have the experience to act more professionally.

I really had a great experience here buying my first pair of running shoes, their return policy for members is great because my first pair didn't work out and I exchanged it for a new pair that's like walking on pillows! They were also great with helping me with my bike, and very patient since I don't know what I'm doing. I love this staff and plan to come here for my future bike/shoe needs. I wish they sold soccer stuff though!

Cashiers make you feel obligated to become a lifetime member. Some of us just want to buy our stuff and leave. You don't have to be rude just because you were not successful in getting another membership. We were literally ignored after I politely declined. We don't plan on coming back due to the terrible customer service. The quickest way to loose business is by showing your Greed

First time in REI. The store was busy (Saturday afternoon) but I did get service quickly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The store was clean and organized for the most part. Prices were reasonable as was that selection (hiking boots). Will definitely visit store again.

The worst REI I’ve been to. Three out of four store associates we asked for help were rude and/or uncommunicative. The only one that was helpful also seemed like everything and everyone was a chore. The last associate gave so much attitude and was so unhelpful, that I am now completely out of a product I have already paid for, and need to just…Sit and wait and hope that the online team was able to fix the store associate’s mistake in re-routing the replacement. I only gave the one star because we were able to find most things we wanted this visit. On top of the weird employees and their collective disdain for everyone that walks through the doors, the store is just way more cramped and oddly laid out than any other REI I’ve been to. Like other reviewers have said, just a very odd experience.

I hate to love this place! Do your feet a favor and spend the money on some excellent shows here. But purchase the membership. You'll save big.

Best staff to help you find your clothes and your other hiking and walking items. The materials of their clothes is excellent. One of the best features is that the cloth is the rei colors and the pockets are great for the sizes to include large phones safely in the pocket. They also sell great hiking shoes

I simply don’t get it… firstly we were next at two open registers. And both registers had customer. And employees were speaking about literally both for 10 minutes… and then it’s finely put turn. And we got asked if we want a membership for at least 6 times, is it a joke? Hope someone will talk to Zachary about it. No means “no”. I don’t understand it, so frustrating standing there and says constantly no. Horrible experience at the register.

I found a great deal on some shoes here. The woman helping me was super sweet and helpful. I really only gave a lower rating because of the rude cashier guy. He asked me if I was a member and I said no, that I wasn't interested. Then he went on saying it was a one time fee of $30 and I politely said no thank you, just the shoes for me today...well. He didn't care, and KEPT GOING. And going. And going. Talking about the program and benefits. I said oh no I'm not interested or no thanks probably 4 or 5 times and he would TALK OVER ME and keep going. It was bizarre. Why didn't he realize no meant no? Very weird. I love my shoes though!
