Karl helped me get a wetsuit. I am from Wisconsin so that is not something I am remotely familiar with. He answered all my stupid questions. He educated me on the different types. I told him I wouldnt be in it much so I didnt want to spend a fortune on it but i needed something to keep me warm due to my raynaud's disease. He hit the price point prefectly and he made sure the suit fit right since I didn't know what was right or wrong. I haven't been able to go in the water in two years(even 90 degree water) and I was able to go into the ocean and have fun with my husband. I can't thank Karl enough for helping me get my life back to normalish.

Definitely my favorite store when were visiting Huntington beach this past weekend. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful when looking for certain items. Great deals on items if you time it right as I was able to get some cool shirts for 40% off.

Best rental selection in the area. They got some sick boards for rent. If youre on VK around here and need a nice board, check them out. I rented two boards from them, both were super high quality boards, not some rental beater boards. Awesome stuff.

Went in just for a ding repair kit. Realized last minute I needed some base coat wax. Asked to add one and they just threw it in for free. Super nice. Definitely my new go to shop ??

I will come again! I went to HSS for the weekend to go surfing I rented a board and a wetsuit, when I returned them I realized when I got home I gave them the wrong wetsuit back I was able to call and the man on the phone spent an hour looking for my friends wetsuit it all worked out! Great staff always working hard!

An update since my review in June 2022: We are long-time HSI guests and after an absolutely awkward and disappointing experience with the managers during our June 2022 stay we had sadly written off the HSI. We canceled our reservations for our September 2022 wedding and vowed to never stay there again.. but we MISSED it. We love it so much. So we decided to suck it up, deal with the weird managers, and book again for March 2023. Much to our excitement we learned that the June 2022 managers were no longer working there! We were ecstatic to finally return to our home away from home! Our stay was great. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly, smiling face of the owner. He recognized that we were long-time guests, acknowledged our previous grievances, offered a genuine apology, and we proceeded to enjoy a lengthy chat with him. All of the signs stating all of the “NOs!” were gone. Guests were actually enjoying the deck. It was so nice. It felt normal again. The HSI really is one of our all-time favorite places to stay and we are so happy to know that we can return and feel comfortable. We can’t wait to go back for a summer getaway!

Hawaiians buy slippahs like sneakerheads collect sneakers: You need to have the right pair of slippahs for the right occasion. Hawaiian men will typically have at least five pairs of slippahs: Everyday; Beach; Yardwork; After gym/golf and Dressy.I only wear Olukai bc they are high quality, have an arch support for my flat feet, and they support the HLA (Hawai'i Lifeguard Association). In addition, I only buy my slippahs at HSS, bc HSS has all the styles I am looking for, and they always have my hard to find size 13s.I was in the market for dress slippahs, and after researching, the Mea Ola's leather slippahs fit the bill for me. They have canoe lash whipstitching and octopus laser-etched artwork. After a short break in period, these slippahs are super comfortable.HSS also has a lot of other surf gear like shorts, tanks and tees. They always seem to have deals, and if you look hard enuf you can score some gear at a good price. I don't mind paying full price ($80 regular, $130 for leather), for Olukais bc they last a long time, and the co stands behind their products.The staff is always chill and emblematic of the HB beach culture. The next time you are in HB, stop by HSS and score some gear at good prices.

The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfy. The location is fabulous, right across the street from the beach and super close to an amazing coffee place and taco shop. The lady in the office was so nice, every single day. We will definitely be back.

When we travel we love to stay at small boutiqueish hotels. The owner & the office manager were wonderful when we checked in. Each room has a different theme. We stayed in room 5. There are only 9 rooms up above the free parking enclosure. Very quaint. The bed was comfortable, had a mini frig & microwave. We were able to walk to eateries, the Huntington Beach Pier & shops! Looking forward to staying again & bringing our bikes! Thank you to the staff at Huntington Surf Inn!

We had an excellent experience and loved staying here! The staff was awesome, and very helpful. The room was super clean and exactly what we needed. The location is exceptional, right across from the beach, and close to main street. We look forward to returning!

The place was so close to the beach and had a nice character feel to it without feeling too run down. It was clean and nice inside the room. They were very accommodating with my stay and even allowed me to extend my check out.
