“The store is small and doesn't have much in terms of groceries. Their prices aren't what I would call bargain friendly, but when you want to grab a bottle at the last minute and don't have a ride, they are great to have around. The owners and staff are all super nice and helpful. They make me feel welcome every time I stop by. One of the ladies recommended Dobel tequila when I asked for a suggestion, which I had never heard of and is now my favorite tequila.”

“Our own little corner store! The place to go for snacks and cold drinks. Our family has been going here for over 30 years, and have known both owners. Current owners are a lovely older couple who enjoy their regulars and new customers.”

“Buying dumplings like this is a bit of a new experience for me as I have historically gone to a grocery place and bought some frozen ones there.. but these I was really impressed with. The quality and plump, juiciness of the dumplings is so delicious that I don't think I can go back to my old ways again. I really enjoyed their mini pork and shrimp, pork, chives dumplings. I am pretty sensitive to porkiness if the protein isn't great but here there is none of that, something that made me wanting one more dumpling after one more. Really recommend and love how easy it is to drop in and pick up a bag. Cash only more or less”

“This business is now known as Mercadito El Batan. And they make killer pupusas. The pupusas are made on the grill outside and foil wrapped to keep the heat in to bring them home and eat. There are other things as well that they make too. There is a menu next to the door that talks about the kind you can get and there are other things on the menu, I cannot make out what it says. Not fluent in Espanol. I did see lots of styles of Mexican Sodas on the menu as well. If you want to eat your food there, there is limited seating. Indoor seating. One odd thing, I paid with my card and asked for a E receipt. The business comes up as Romero's Pupusas so I don't know if they have anything to do with the main store or not but this little place to eat needs to be recognized more and properly put on maps online and perhaps Yelp!”

“Great selection for every day needs. They even have a produce section that is so convenient. The clerks are super frendly and fast. Awesome selection of beer , wine and liquor. The candy selection is the biggest Ive ever seen in a convenience market. The coolers with ice cold beer by the counter are very creative. If they dont have what you need just tell them and they will bring it in. Very nice having this place so close to where I live. Good stuff Gill, you rock!!!”

“Great value and a lot of interesting items, but sometimes it's a bit random: something new and unusual shows up and then it's gone by your next visit. Right now, it's my local supply for doenjang (Korean fermented soybean paste)!”

“I went there years ago in the 80s when I first flew my first plane the people were I can't remember who was there but the people who run the store now run it well they run a good clean respectable business but if you give a business five stars it seems like to me everybody turns arrogant so you get four stars for me and honest opinion if you don't like it I don't care”

“My Hispanic pals and I used to eat lunch here occasionally when I worked in Hayward. Someone today just asked me my favorite place for Mexican Food and I immediately thought of Mi Pueblito Grocery Store. The authentic, delicious food to go is served in the back. Yummy! Gosh, I want some now.”

“Love this little local spot for both the market and carnicería. I can pick up carne asada steak, chicken, marinaded taco meat, ribs and much more from the butcher. The grocery market is good too because you can also buy bread, canned goods, tortillas etc... it's basically a little local market. The people working the cash register and at the butcher are always very nice.”
