I never write a review but feel like sharing my experience will help others when working with this Business. Had our taxes done in 2023 by this business and was pleased, we even referred others to this business. Fast forward to 2024 made our Tax appt, had to cancel due to a work engagement two days prior to my appt. So gave this business 48 hours notice. (I didn't just cancel but rescheduled my appointment). Which there website allowed me to do so also did not have a cancellation policy anywhere listed when I rescheduled. (Also another note that there are plenty of appointments available) . So you can imagine how surprised I was this morning to receive a rude email and a cancellation of my rescheduled appointment. If I would of known that I would have to find a new Tax Preparer so close to the deadline I would not have rescheduled. Just putting this out there so no one else is put in this unfortunate situation. Lockhart Tax Service- If you want to be in control of your appointments don't have them open on your website or at least provide your policies.
LIKE I SAID, MANAGE YOUR APPOINTMENTS YOURSELF, POST A CANCELLATION POLICY.
THE KINGS GAME WAS A WORK EVENT.

This tax preparer is one of the most unprofessional people in the financial services field in my opinion that I had ever had the misfortune of doing business with. Her deductions were not in compliance with IRS tax law resulting in an IRS audit, my first in 45 years of working. When I contacted her she stated she would represent me with the IRS. After I sent her dozens of documents that the IRS was requesting she went silent ghosting me, refusing my calls and emails. After that call informing her of my audit she disappeared, never to be heard from again. No return call, no follow-up email, nothing. Do you really want your tax preparer to go silent on you when you need them the most? Of course not. Bottom line, tax preparers like this one are a dime a dozen. Unprofessional and uninformed resulting in potential IRS audits potentially costing you thousands of dollars. HEED MY ADVICE IF YOU DON'T LIKE AUDITS AND IF YOU DO NOT LIKE YOUR PREPARER DITCHING YOU WHEN YOU NEED THEM TO EXPLAIN THEIR DEDUCTIONS TO THE IRS THEN PASS THIS ONE UP. YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID. THERE ARE DEFINITELY WAY BETTER CHOICES THAN THIS HACK.

Lockhart had been doing my taxes since the 1990s, the daughter Samantha took it over it 2008 and has been doing my taxes since then. I am retired and my taxes are simple, short form, state/fed are the two papers I need every year and it takes about ten minutes. Samantha has moved 4 times and I went to each new location even though its getting further away, from half hour to an hour drive. I kept with Lockhart because Ive been with them so long. This year I was unable to reach Samantha either by phone or text starting in January when I do my taxes so I went locally. I later texted Samantha one last time to see if she was ok or still doing taxes, and this time she replied right away. She said she wasnt going to book me anymore as I dont show up for my appts and it costs her alot of money. I was startled by this as I have never done that, I thought she had me mixed up with someone else. She added that I showed up last year without my paperwork too. I was sure she had me mixed up as I drive an hour each way and only have two papers why would I waste my own time? Then she said Ive only done your taxes a couple times we are not friends! (try 9 years, 18 total with Lockhart) At 7:00pm at night while I was skyping my grandkids she called over and over leaving angry messages saying if I would say it to her face? All I was saying was it wasnt true and I think there is something wrong with her... and the phone isnt face to face. Im not going to be an outlet for her anger. I still dont know if she had me mixed up with someone else but I was a good longtime client and if there was someone out there that missed an appt or didnt have their paperwork she behaved badly. I worry that shes been doing my taxes all these years and doesnt seem to know who anybody is. I had already taken my taxes somewhere else and went back to check on her. What a mistake. Friendly when she wants to be then unstable out of nowhere, she wrote like she was breaking up with her boyfriend and she was my tax lady. Unprofessional, I didnt choose her she was just in her mothers seat one day. In the future I will screen who is handling my personal information better and not go with the flow, lesson learned.

I found Samantha to be very friendly and helpful. We didn't end up having our taxes completed by Samantha because we had complicated cross border taxation issues that we needed resolved by a specialist however Sam was so helpful to walk us through the process and returned my calls immediately.

I have been using Lockhart Tax for 20 years. I don't have one bad thing to say, Samantha does great work. I am self employed making my taxes a lot more complicated than most. Samantha has taken the time to help me, with my write offs, calculate miles, and understand what she doing. I call her often through-out the year, with questions for my own taxes and about clients I'm working with, and she always answers and takes the time to educate me. I have full confidence in Samantha's skill. I would never take my taxes anywhere else. Im not even sure what she charges me, and I don't care. I know I'm getting more than I pay for!

For many years I used to get my taxes done at my local corporate franchise that popped up around tax time. I wish I had realized sooner how much money I could be saving by working with an organization that really knows what they are doing. My wife and I have been astonished by how much money we were leaving on the table. Sam does a great job of explaining things in a way that is easy to understand. Over the years of using this service I have come away with a better understanding of how the US tax system works in general and with more confidence about how to approach my finances from year to year. It is great to work with someone who is willing to explain things and not make you feel stupid. I would highly recommend this service!

Lockhart Tax Service is great! Samantha has been preparing my taxes for almost ten years and I couldn't be happier. I run a small business and have a fairly complicated return. She always seems to know what questions to ask, even if I don't, and how to keep my tax bill as low as possible. She has been very helpful when I need advice throughout the year. I don't know how she remembers all that tax information, but she always knows what will work best for me. If you run a business and aren't sure where to look to save on your tax bill, I would give her a call. I can't imagine facing tax season without her. I highly recommend Lockhart Tax Service.

If there were more stars to give-- I would do it. I've been so happy with the service, I feel it my duty to inform others and highly recommend LOCKHART Tax Service. If you want someone who's going listen to you and do their very best to make sure you're getting every possible break in your taxes that you can get--go see Ms. Lockhart. She has prepared my taxes for 6 years now and I've never been disappointed. I've worked with the lot of other tax preparers in the past but never one so professional, thorough, and diligent. Once a year we meet and I'm always amazed at the details that she can remember about our past visits--she listens, I mean really listens and that's something you just don't always get. She answered all my questions, no matter how silly I thought they were and she explained "tax jargon" in a way that I could understand it. Again, I highly recommend Ms. Lockhart-- 5 1/2 stars.

This female is highly unprofessional. Her mother started & owns this business, so Samantha can get away with murder. She failed to complete our taxes, period. She provided us with 5 different completion dates, she failed every time. Her excuses are as follows: had to move from a hotel back to her home, needed time off due to stress, her car broke down, couldn't hear phone ring because it didn't work in parts of her house and caring for family. On the second failed completion date, she filed an extension because of her personal issues. When we finally contacted her, in a different state, she said it will be OK and that it was no big deal. Well when we owed $2,000.00, plus interest and penalties, not a big deal to you. Samantha is not the brightest crayon in the box, an extension means if you owe you still have to pay on time. She was way off on that assumption. Also, she constantly had to take time off. She never notified us, just disappeared for a week one time after hiring her to complete our family taxes. We were concerned about her behavior and notified her via text, e-mail and phone that we could have someone else work on our taxes. She assured us numerous times that she would get them finished. After returning from her MIA bouts, she acted as if nothing was wrong, becoming angry at us for her inadequencies. After the tax due date, she says she would e-file the paperwork. She didn't complete our taxes, instead she e-mailed 48 pages of worksheets, basically 2015's information. She said sign and send back. Simultaneously, she asked for payment on a credit card. (It must be noted that in her contract, she would send completed taxes for us to sign, then send back with payment). It came to be that our taxes weren't e-filed, because they weren't complete. She failed to complete our child's taxes also. We fired her. She became highly hostile, stating that she was stressed and overwhelmed. In the end, our receipts/ paperwork weren't even looked at. She said our bank statements, DMV, etc. were missing. I made her copies and even figured totals of everything, all she had to do was FILL IN THE BLANKS! You charged like a CPA, very, very far from that. Made an appointment with a CPA. Samantha was so far off the mark. The CPA had to re-do our taxes. Samantha was off by over $600.00, she failed to submit a proper state form in a different state for rental property, our child owed taxes, so more penalty's and interest. And with the IRS, and 2 different state's now we are now flagged. CPA will now go back and recalculate the latter years, due to Samantha Lockhart's mistakes. Samantha needs to go back to school/training and seek psychiatric help. Samantha is angry, vengeful and it was torture having to deal with her issues.

Doing your taxes is the equivalent of a dentist visit - an essential, agonizing evil. For years I used “Do it yourself†tax software; which, despite the promotional commercials and paid for ads, is not as easy or efficient as you think it is. I started using Lockhart Tax Service back in 2012. A work colleague of mine, who just had a child and started his own online business, raved about Lockhart's services. Which, in his words, went above and beyond to do everything from child cost deductions to small business expenses exemptions. My experience with Lockhart Tax Service was/and still is nothing but prompt and professional. The level of expertise to this day astonishes me. Tax law, unfortunately changes year by year and Lockhart Tax Service is up to breast with the latest terms and legal colloquialism that will save you hundreds if not more. The face-to-face consolation that they give is second to none. A no nonsense, get down to business but with a family atmosphere. They are there to help you and they will find a way to help you. I highly recommend Lockhart Tax Service.
