First time I've been to a grocery store and everything was where they said it would be! Besides that great customer service and store was pretty clean.

Why it is necessary to have the street sweeper cleaning the parking lot an hour before closing. There are at least a dozen customers and we all can't breathe through the dust storm. Why can't you wait til the store closes and there's no more customers in the parking lot?

Waited for 10 plus minutes for someone who doesn’t even work in the deli to make my sandwich… that and every time I come in Josh is literally the only guy working it seems like. I appreciate him but the rest of the team just seems to not care at all.

Went in to get a sandwich around 11 AM at the deli. The guy behind the counter said they weren't making sandwiches because they were out of sandwich bread. You are a SUPERMARKET with a BAKERY, and a FULL ISLE of BREAD!!!! How can you be out of it at the deli??????

I arrived at the store about 15 minutes to 8pm, praying the deli would be open. The kid (not a young man) looked at me and I said " Hi are you still open?" He said we close at 8 pm" I believe It was 7:50pm, by the time he answered me y6. I only wanted a pound of very thin sliced maple ham. I needed some protein. So I go back and forth with this disrespectful kid that it is not my fault you have to leave at 9pm. That was all he cared about and we went back and forth. I asked can you please call your manager. He points towards the check out lanes. I told him please call him I want to talk to him. Huff noise and he paged the mgr. By now this was 8:15pm. I waited and waited so I asked him to please page him again. He acted like I chopped his arm off. Mgr comes I explained time, details and they do not have deli hours posted. I'm new to Escondido. I was not going to let this kid or mgr. Tell me he was closed. He was helping another man with sliced meat. So I said " I wouldn't like 1 lb Maple honey ham sliced very thin please" another detail was he grumbled to himself and he said they were out. There were 3 new hams in front of me. I said" it's right here ". He said" didn't have anything to open it with " REALLY? So that was the point I asked for the mgr. to be called. He told the customer before me that they were out of some cheese. The man said" a new one is right there " he received the same answer. "Don't have a clean knife to open it ". The kid gets away with a poor customer service attitude and by the time I got my ham it was 8:30pm and he sliced it thick, even though I repeated it 4 times for thin. I couldn't believe it. Mgr is not worth being a mgr the kid needs some serious training in customer service and respect for his fellow human beings. I ate one slice and threw it in the freezer and I'm going to return it.

Why do the Vons stores use prime parking for curbside delivery??? You have to park in another county if you want to shop there. Think about it why can't PAID employees walk a bit further so regular patrons can safely walk to your store. Otherwise I would be shopping there.

I just finished reading the last review, and it made my day! I've had a run in with the gentleman with the pull up neck scarf also. I believe his name is Alfredo and I'm not sure if he is the manager or not. My run in concerned the fact that he does wear one of those pull up neck scarves, which is very off putting (he looked like a masked gunman) and he wouldn't touch my fingertips when I was paying cash, he wanted me to put the bills and change on the tiny counter between us. Since I still have PTSD from the awful COVID experience we all went through, I did over react and called him a 'germaphob', which I later regretted. On the plus side, other people that work there are super cool, helpful, and personable, like Josh, and others, but I don't know their names. As a side note, I've been shopping at this vons for about 15 years, and my nick name to differentiate it from other Escondido Vons is 'Ghetto Vons".

I walked in and placed an order with a young lady at the bakery counter on Monday, October 2nd, 2023. I should preface this review by saying I have shopped at this Von's bakery many times, and I have never had a single complaint. I send over an image, and so long as it is not a copyrighted photo/image, they can print the image onto your cake. That is what I was attempting to do, again. However, the young lady was obviously new, and she had stated so. So she said she would not be able to give us an estimate on the price of the cake at that time. She was new, and the manager she spoke with, wouldn't be able to assist without being in the bakery. I told her to give me a call if they were going to be any issues. But, there shouldn't have been any problems, because, as I've mentioned, I've ordered eight or 10 cakes from this location before, and nothing is ever a problem. We have always been pleasantly surprised by the outcome. However, when I woke up Friday morning (10/6/23), the morning of my daughter's birthday party, I had missed a call and had a voice message from Rex,, stating he would not be able to make my cake, because my image would be a copyrighted infringement. I could call back to cancel the order, but they would not be making my cake. I was hysterical, as any mother would be. I called back and I spoke with Rex. The "Apple" image was absolutely not a copyright issue, and it was a public image posted on Google images. It was an image that some individual, somewhere in the world, had posted for public use. I have worked in marketing, and I most certainly would not do anything to infringe upon copyright laws. The image has never been used as an Apple ad, Apple item, or Apple logo. Yet, Rex did not believe me, and he refused to make my cake, thus leaving me without a birthday cake for my daughter's birthday party that evening. That order had been sitting there all week, and no one had looked at it until the day that my daughter's birthday party was scheduled. I called back to speak to a manager, whose name is Stephen ("Stef-on" is how I believe he pronounced it). I tried, in my most calm, but hysterical voice, to explain to the manager what was going on, and how the order had been there all week. I wasn't going to be able to get another cake in time for her birthday, and I had emailed them a specific Apple image to put on a carrot cake, because she was going to be getting an Apple Watch for her birthday. The family thought it would be cute to have her cake be an "Apple" carrot cake. To make a long story short, Stephen told Rex to make that cake, and make it right now. I was so grateful and relieved. To make matters even better, Stephen called back, and literally said, "I'm really sorry for this confusion and for how this upset you. I don't like when we upset or disappoint our customers. The birthday cake is on us." I burst into tears, and I literally have no way to show my appreciation for what Stephen, the manager, did to help save the day. I am so beyond grateful for your help, Stephen. You are an example of the way in which all managers should be trained and should treat customers. It wasn't about giving me the cake complementary (although, that was above and beyond). It was about making sure that someone's daughter had the cake that was ordered for her, ready for her on her birthday. And the manager completely understood the assignment. Stephen may already be a manager, but he certainly deserves a promotion and a raise. He is exceptional. Thank you, Stephen.

I dont mind waiting or that the place is short staff...but when a customer comes up and is not greeted because whatever conversation you are having is more important than my transaction I have an issue. Its rude. it has happened to me twice here and this time it was a supervisor. Thanks.

If I could leave half a star I would. Extremely poor customer service. Brought change in to change out in the Coin Star machine. Change got to $120 before the machine stopped working. On duty manager was completely clueless and worthless. I was told that I needed to come back while they keep my $120! I don’t have the liberty to return the next business day. What kind of company puts a person in charge and calls them a manager or supervisor without any knowledge on how to give a 100% to the customer or fix problems? I will take my business elsewhere.
