I had an absolutely great experience working with John at JWA. I moved into a new home with a completely blank slate, both front and back yards. After an initial meeting with John, I worked with his designer, Mel. Mel is wonderful and talented in his field, very open to complete collaboration between his ideas and mine. Communication with John throughout the project was open and straightforward. The various teams that work on the different aspects of the work (concrete, plants, water feature, irrigation, etc) are all very experienced and knowledgeable. And, at the end of the project, when the extremely hot weather had taken a toll on several of the plants, John unquestioningly replaced those that had suffered. He is always very pleasant, honest and professional and I would recommend his work to anyone. I love my yard and so does anyone that visits, with so many accolades about the "wow" factor that JWA helped produce!Services: Walkway landscaping

After six years of debating what to do with our sloped lot in El Dorado Hills, I met with John Anderson, owner of JWA, through our landscape designer, Mel. John took the vision that I had created with Mel and turned it into a spectacular reality. From the first meeting to the last, John was knowledgeable, prepared and took the time to listen to what I really wanted for my two small children. JWA managed to take an unusable, steep lot and turn it into a functional living space. JWA's employees are top of the line. Every person I dealt with was professional, respectful and super competent. John chose an excellent team to represent JWA. "The Excavator Man" (as my three-year-old calls the man who drove the tractors), is the best of the best when it comes to creating space. He took a very narrow area and created a huge space for concrete, a lawn, a putting green, a beautiful fire pit and even a play area with playground bark for my children. He also made a large, flat area on the top of the property that I didn't think would be possible. Sarah, JWA's horticulturalist, is extremely knowledgeable about plants and trees and is a pleasure to work with. She made some excellent suggestions and together we were able to create a beautiful garden with a variety of foliage. We now have fruit trees and a vegetable garden too! Sarah even went out of her way to explain to me how to set up the drip system for our garden troughs. My son and I did it ourselves! I couldn't be happier with my decision to hire JWA to create our dream backyard. Thank you John and JWA staff for your passion and professionalism. It shows in your work.

I have worked with JWA on over 50 jobs, and when asked JWA is the first landscaper I recommend. Why? Simple. JWA is the BEST in the EDH area.The team of guys in the field at JWA are absolute machines. They are prompt, work hard, do quality work, and have years and years of experience which truly sets them apart from the rest. Their hardscape work is exceptional, and they are very good at installing concrete cantilever pool coping.JWA is an EID approved landscaper, and they offer complete landscape design, and installation. They also offer shade structure and outdoor kitchen construction; a true, one stop shop for all desired backyard construction wishes.When driving through El Dorado County one would see the neighborhoods of EDH and be impressed at her beauty. I'm leaving 3 stars because I don't want to totally bash this business. Based on the photos I've seen it looks like they do amazing work. However, getting a hold of anyone was near impossible. I first called and the lady told me to call the owner, which I did. His VM was full so I couldn't leave a message. Called a few days later and went to voicemail. He texted back later suggesting a date and time to come by. I needed to move the date out since we were out of town and he said no problem. I suggested a date and no response. No one showed up on that date and that's about the end of it. I'm here willing to throw a good amount of money your way and really wanted to go with this company over a lot of his competitors, but I guess they didn't want my business.

John and his team were a joy to work with during a time when other companies proved to be either too busy for our smaller project or didn't listen to what our needs/wants were. Responsive and our project was delivered as promised and on time. Would work with them again in a heartbeat.

We were referred to JWA through my parents as well as several of their neighbors who had John landscape their yards. Our house is newly built and therefore a blank canvas for landscaping options.We had several contractors come out and give us hand wavy quotes and vague ideas and recommendations. Most didn't even bother to get back to us with a final cost or show further interest in doing our yard as it wasn't a $100k+ job.When John came out for a quote he sat down with us in the backyard and truly listened to what we wanted. He helped us visualize our ideas and provided recommendations. On the same visit he provided a cost break down for every item we were interested in having done which helped us in deciding which items were must haves and those that weren't as necessary and worth the cost. The transparency of the costs and John's straightforward and helpful demeanor were ultimately what sealed the deal for us.Once our HOA approved our design, we were on John's schedule and work steadily progressed on the yard, turning our once baron dirt dessert into an oasis attached to the back of our home. The interactions with John and his team along the entire journey were clear and as expected. John and team were able to help us make some additions and changes along the way such as adding in an autofill for our fountain and gates for our garden.I think the end result speaks for itself and we are now proud to invite family and guests over to enjoy our new home inside and out.Thanks John and team for your hard work, passion, and professionalism.

John and his staff just completed the landscaping on our new El Dorado Hills home. From our initial meeting with john and his designer Mel, to the final walk through when the job was complete, our experience was very pleasing. Johns staff was always courteous and well informed, the work was completed professionally and in a very timely, workman like fashion. I will be recommending J W A to all my family and friends.

Largest lot in Heritage. John came by almost daily to check on progress and make adjustments as requested by my wife....lol. Outstanding job from start to finish. Zen arch, patio cover, concrete patio and 100 yd. walkway (radio control car racetrack), garden boxes, studio pad, 15 boulders, rock wall, dozen of plants and trees, full irrigation system, lighting, flag pole, fence staining, rattlesnake fencing, bark, gravel, on and on. They have also been very responsive to a coupla' small issues that later developed, nothing major. Great crew, very professional and they sure went the extra mile for us. First class all the way. They aren't cheap but you certainly get value and professionalism. Highly recommended by the owner of one of the coolest yards in Heritage.Services: Custom masonry

We purchased a new home October 2020. JWA Landscaping was recommended to us by friends who live in the same development. We met with the owner, John Anderson., prior to acquiring ownership in order to get a head start on the process. John walked the property with us asking what type of improvements we wanted, as well as suggesting several design features. He sketched out a rough drawing of our lot with the upgrades we talked about, and put us in contact with one of the landscape architects he works with. The architect supplied us with a large 24" x 36" computer generated plan with detailed elements. A full list of trees and decorative plants was also supplied for our submission to our Home Owners Association for their approval. Within 2 weeks of HOA concurrence, John's crew started work. The work took into account not just concrete form work, but the excavation and routing of irrigation, lighting, and necessary drainage. In addition to our back yard, we had also requested concrete walkways for the side yards, and a short walkway and driveway step offs in the front yard. All their work was performed professionally. We're very pleased with the result! JWA has completed many home landscaping jobs within the Lennar Heritage community. Good work sells itself. That's the reason John gets so many referral jobs. We wholeheartedly recommend John Anderson/JWA.

I have to say, JWA did a great drainage job for us on our property which backs up to a 20 acre hillside a couple of years ago (about an $8500 job). I have 4 different jobs I'd like done now, including a couple that are not particularly "fun jobs" as characterized by John (specifically a 58 x10 foot berm that was planted with juniper I'd like removed, followed by planting of 58 feet of boxwood, a 16 foot replacement fence damaged by recent wind storms, and leveling unplanted ground ( roughly 755 square feet) to be replaced with a rock garden. I understand in these days of uncertainty that business plans change, but really? I'm a returning customer. "I am more interested in $100,000 to $200,000 jobs, so I'm not interested unless your job is at least $10,000." First off, how would I know what your estimate is going to be unless you come out and gauge the 4 (FOUR) different projects I'd like to have you bid? Your arrogance is dumbfounding and misplaced. Unless you have a job that will line this condescending joker's pocket, don't bother contacting him.

JWA Landscaping & Concrete did a phenomenal job on mybackyard. John Anderson, the owner of the company wasvery knowledgeable and personable. He set up a meeting withMel Hatch, his landscape architect and in the subsequentmeeting, Mel suggested some terrific ideas. A week later,he sent the plans to me along with some mockup pictures andI loved them. Dave, the project manager, came next with hiscrew and began the work. He was available for questions I had,and his crews were fantastic workers, all worked hard at theirspecific jobs. John made periodic reviews during the work.The process was timely and turned out better than I expected.I love it!! Thanks for all you great work JWA!!

JWA installed our backyard landscaping in 2017. They performed on-time and on-budget with a very professional crew. Time has proved the high quality of their work. In addition, they have been exceptionally responsive to follow-up questions. I would definitely use JWA Landscape again which is why I recommend this company.
