Julie's Beach Wear is a fine establishment. Maybe people with so-called 'social anxiety' should shop elsewhere.

My family and I came to the San Diego area for vacation. This whole time one of my main goals was to buy a few nice bathing suits. Though I can do so online, I prefer to shop at small businesses. We specifically came to Del Mar to go visit Julie’s Beach Wear, because of the great reviews it had. My family and I walked in and were the only people in the store. We were never greeted as the sales clerk was on her phone and not paying attention. I started to pull some suits off the racks and she seemed concerned I was going to drop stuff so she asked if she could start a room, which-was great, as I wanted to try on a lot of things. I was hoping to buy at least 3-4 bathing suits, and my mother wanted to buy some as well. I continued to pull things off the racks-because they do have a great selection. The sales clerk came over, gave me a nasty look and in an extremely rude and condescending tone (while rolling her eyes) said some thing along the lines of “wow you’re grabbing a lot of stuff and we only let people try on ten things” to which I replied “okay…well do you not want me to shop here then?”. I was genuinely confused because it really seemed like I was inconveniencing her because I wanted to try things on. She continued to be snarky and said “well it’s just going to be really confusing and you’re going to have to hand me everything you don’t want”. My whole family heard her tone and was shocked. I told her I no longer wanted to try anything on as I was holding back tears. I have social anxiety and shopping is already very hard for me. She made my experience horrible and I was bummed because I did like the selection of suits they had. The sales clerk refused to give me her name and continued to be rude while texting on her phone and dismissing me completely. She offered no apology and didn’t seem to think she was out of line. I forgot to mention, she was also really rude to my mom which was not cool. Included below is a picture of the clerk after she refused to give me her name. I took the photo and her response was an eye roll and “whatever”.

My favorite boutique in Del Mar with awesome customer service, including the Pomeranian dogs hanging around the store! There is an amount of cute things that will make you stay for hours and no one even press you to buy anything if all you want to do that day is seeing and touching pretty things. The clothes are not cheap but are very beautiful and unique. Same with the different gift items you can find there. Not the usual tackly souvenir shop, the swimsuits and bikinis are one of a kind. Everything is fabulous in store and keep changing stuff all the time.

Best boutique in San Diego. The Owner is a Master of Couture, & she will style you pretty. As well as being lovely herself, everything in her shop has been selectively chosen by her, & you can feel the love & warmth throughout her shop.

I despise buying bathing suits. Yet Julie has made buying bathing suits a fun experience. She takes her time to help you pick out things that look great on your body, and the quality of the bathing suits are insanely good. You can wear them for years without stretching and fading. Her fashion sense is awesome, all of the clothes are so cute/cool, and I love the little extras that she has like the books and gifts. Plus she has the two cutest dogs hanging out in there and she’s a riot. Julie is the best. Make sure to visit her store if you’re in Del Mar, she has everything in there.

Such cute dresses and cover ups. Very cool books too. We learned it actually used to be a bookstore many years ago, love that they kept a bit of that alive. So many fresh styles and colors, perfect for the stay in Del Mar and all summer long. Julie and Joelle were super welcoming and friendly, they were very sweet with our dog and although their store dog Frankie wasn't too keen of him, we loved their pooches Frankie and Stella, such cute faces and haircuts. We love that they keep them at the store, they are so well behaved staying in their cozy beds while shoppers browse. I got quite a few new dresses and will love to wear all of them for a long time to come. Will be a must stop every time I'm in Del Mar now. Thank you for offering such great items and for your hospitality.

I absolutely love this place! I live in Oregon but vacation in the area multiple times per year. I love shopping at Julie’s place. She has the best selection of clothes and hats.

I LOVE this shop! It is full of beautifully unique items for my closet, my bookshelf and home. Julie is so fun and helpful. She helped my daughter and I pick out great outfits and we are both so picky. I never imagined a store where we could shop together.

Carries everything that includes elevated beach life. Great selection and the owner is a local with local beach styles and art pieces from local artists. Great store with lots of selection for a small local shop. Apparently they were established in 1994, so they’ve been around for a while. I would recommend them for all you single guys or married guys bring your wife/fiancé/ girlfriend in treat her to the authentic local So. Cal beach lifestyle. I, personally love the teas!

Stopped in on a Sunday and met Anne who was watching the store for Julie, had an amazing time! Love the art on the walls (all local artists) and the books immediately caught my eye too! After buying a book and a cute Buddha, came back again this week to show my BF the art. This time I got to meet Julie and had an amazing time talking to her too! Cannot say enough good things about this shop, please shop local and get something from this store you won't be sorry. The quality of everything from the service to the items for sale is hard to find anywhere else!

Julie's has everything I need! This is a swimwear institution. She carries interesting pieces I haven't found anywhere else. I love that I can pick-up a bikini and not see anyone else on the beach wearing it. Plus I also picked up a great little cover-up and a fun gift for my friend while I was there. Julie has a little something for everyone. Can't wait to come back for more!
