Many people say that Oxford Academy assigns a lot of homework. However, if you really just focus, you can complete your homework in less than 45 minutes and pass with straight A’s. The community over there is very supportive and has a discord server with homework help and just hanging out. The events are amazing and it is a school that you should try to join.

It's scary how emotionally reliant we are about our grades (shoutout to Groover, Choi, Hodges, and Alonso)

Hello, I would like to comment on a few things in store if you decide to join Oxford. A lot of people complain about the homework and yes it's very true that it's quite overwhelming at times. However, the point of Oxford Academy is to teach your child how to manage their time wisely, and prepare them for college. Oxford gives your child an early experience, and I have heard alumni say that Oxford definitely makes your college experience a breeze. So, before you join Oxford, you need to know what you are signing up for and how the homework can dive into your personal life. To clarify, if your child will really struggle with managing homework and your life outside of school, I suggest that this is not the best school for you. Although, they have many resources to teach your child about these things. The staff and other students are also really supportive. In the end, every Oxford student has their own experience it really depends on you. Also, the dress code has become less strict.

Amazing school with smart students and for the most part great teachers, however there is still a fair share of bad teachers who favor specific students or have unrealistic expectations. The administration, principal Houston and vice principal Dr. Cho have no idea how to run a school and have very poor leadership skills. They are beginning to ruin the Oxford experience for students and starting to remove everything that makes Oxford unique from it while intimidating students constantly for no reason.

Our opinion about the school, the pros and cons as we see them:Started here in 7th grade. Child tested in with no help from us. I see people complaining that only those with tutors or coaches get in and that's simply not true. My student said the test was easy. No tutoring, no coaching. It's a charter/magnet school for a specified purpose, which is supposed to be for accelerated students, so of course there is a test. We were happy about the results but the school has not lived up to academic expectations.Given the high rankings by US News (#1 in Ca and #11 in the nation at the time) we expected more in terms of class placement- like if a child has already had Algebra at a young age that they would be placed in a higher class. Honestly it seems like they are reluctant to put students that are more accelerated than the majority into classes better suited for them. Overall the teachers have been great but some leave a lot to be desired. Now, the good teachers seem to be getting laid off or transferred and that's concerning. The office staff is amazing with quick responses and that is very appreciated. They do a wonderful job and were absolutely on top of things during school closures and limited in-person instruction. The communication in general about events, summer things, and future classes has been abysmal though, and sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get information. Often, we get several different answers to the same question. My student is bored and right now I regret putting them here, as it was a repeat of much of what they already had (and what was clearly shown on the required transcripts). Grades are great but why should they need to repeat things they've already had? It just keeps them back instead of letting them fly.In addition, the college acceptance stats vs. applications are surprisingly low considering that for testing and proficiency, it's the highest performing public school in the county. The student body is great. Fantastic group of kids, no issues with bullying, no fights or drugs that we know of- in terms of student life, this campus is great and that's one of the reasons we are still there. Couldn't ask for a better group of friends. In my opinion, if you have a very accelerated student, look carefully at the offerings and ask a lot of questions before deciding on this campus. Some students might be better served by early college programs where they can take the classes best suited for their abilities rather than classes that serve the majority. If you are looking for a good peer group though- this fits the bill.

This school is ranked top 3 in California, but that's mainly because of the students. Besides from that, the facilities in some classrooms need some remodeling and the school needs more amenities.
