Carla was a great help finding my baby girls new shoes. Knowledgeable, caring and happy to help. Enjoyed the selection and will be back here for her next pair. ♥️

To say Karla is a miracle worker is an understatement. Howard’s Shoes for Children and Karla are the only combination that allows us to find shoes for our picky toddler. He refuses to even try on shoes from anywhere else. Karla is endlessly patient and truly knowledgeable. She even helped us when we were living across the country. We are so thankful to have found Karla and Howard’s Shoes, otherwise we would have a barefoot toddler on our hands. ?

I was so impressed with the service I received from Carla. She was very knowledgeable about things I didn’t even know were factors in choosing the right shoe for my daughter who has to have orthotics in her shoes. She was also so kid friendly my daughter didn’t even put up a fight trying on all the shoes!

I don't want to discredit the store or it's employees. However after a visit to Kaiser (same day ) on behalf of my son whom has Down Syndrome. We didn't love the selections here. Although the friendly staff person tried her best we were looking for something with a "supportive back aka a high top shoe " specifically no shoe laces and in his size . There were limited selections with this request and seemed to have 5+ in sizing . We even gave a few shoes a chance we tried on at least 3 different shoes but some still had laces when we had requested no laces .. Overall we ended up going with a purchase on Amazon . - this post is long over due .However if Kaiser pediatric podiatrist department sends you here .. I'd double check on Amazon since we were told "AFO's " would be too soon for our 2 year old son whom had low muscle tone . The supportive backing and "stiff" nature of the shoe we found is T21 approved by us .Happy shoe hunting !

They were great! I enjoyed getting to have my new Walker try on a bunch of different shoes before picking the perfect one. The staff was knowledgeable and it made me feel much less stressed trying to find the perfect fit for my 13 month old. It was quick and easy. They even signed us up for a loyalty program so we will for sure be back to buy my daughter shoes here!

Today our family went to buy my daughter her first pair of walking shoes. The store clerks were initially busy and when they were able to attend to us they were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The clerks sat with our family to make recommendations over what they found to help her the most with her early steps whole also protecting her feet. Throughout the process they would regularly check in with how she was feeling and encourage her to walk in a friendly manner of which my daughter enjoyed. They noticed she had difficulty walking and we explained her special needs of which include poor muscle tone and they made recommendations of using high tops to support her style of walking. I would have NEVER had that sort of experience at any other store that sells children's shoes. Today was a wonderful experience and although pricey, it for our first and only daughter with special needs, and it was priceless. ❤

I don't leave reviews very often, but I felt I had to after our visit to this store! This is by far the best shoe shopping experience I have ever had. My son is two, and usually does not have the patience to try on more than one pair of shoes. I've always struggled to figure out the right size/type of shoes to buy for him. This time we needed indoor/outdoor shoes for school, and really wanted shoes that would be good for his foot development. Carla is incredible with kids and somehow managed to get him sized and also to try on about 7 different pairs of shoes! The store is super child friendly and he was running around to test each pair! She was very knowledgeable and helped us find shoes that met all of our requirements. I wish I had come to this store sooner rather than struggling to figure this out on my own!

Great place for Crocs specifically! Picked up some white ones a few days ago, that are just perfect! By the way, I hadn't bought crocs in years, and the store clerk was very helpful in choosing sizes and colors! 5/5 stara!

Now that I'm coming on here to write a review, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who felt the lady sales associate was rude. I just went to this store as I've been supporting it occasionally since my 12 year old was a toddler because I like to support small businesses and they have good quality shoes although their prices are higher than everywhere else. I used to visit when they were inside the Vallco mall! I came in today because I'm taking my 4 year old to Disneyland next week and wanted to invest in some good quality shoes and give him some time to break them in. The sales lady was not very friendly from the beginning. It's also frustrating that there are no price tags on the kids sneakers so I couldn't freely browse and consider shoes while she was helping the other customer. I did not want to interrupt them too much as they were in the middle of a transaction and I think it would not be nice to have her stop helping the lady to begin helping me. Now that I've read the sales lady's response, I see that she was waiting for me to ask for help but I thought she could see that I was patiently waiting for her to finish with the other customer. She also never asked me if I needed any help either , When I got told not to take a photo of one of the shoes, I respected the request immediately. I've never been told that in a shoe store so I did not know I was being rude and I apologize to the store owner. However, I'm not sure why this is a rule as I was able to pull up the shoe online with my phone and check prices. I was actually willing to pay the extra $10 in the store but after waiting a while for the associate to finish with the customer, I lost my patience. I hope you get a much better experience than I did today!

Today's experience is the worst experience to buy kid's shoes because of the bad customer service. I've never seen such customer service so rude, judgemental, and arrogant attitude. We are old customers who used to love this store. Today we would like to pick a crocs for my daughter, and she tried on 3 pairs in order to decide on the right size. We finally picked one and even though the color is not that perfect, we chose the one that the store has (the whole selection process didn't exceed 5 mins without any help from the clerk. We just tried what the store has very quickly). Then my husband wanted to see if he could get a pair, and just picked one. Since the store doesn't have any discount, and I didn't plan to buy an adult pair, I used my phone to check if crocs have more adult options, with discounts (I would like to at least know the prices and options from the website). So my husband told the clerk 'hold on, and we may not buy this pair'. This is how the clerk replied 'Sorry you cannot use our shoes as the measurement to buy them online'. I was shocked. We even didn't try on the shoes! How come the clerk just assumed us that we used the pair as the measurement and is so judgemental! We decided to buy the shoes for my daughter as she loved them. When checking out, I asked 'can I compare the price in this store?'. I even explained to the clerk that we never tried to use your products as measurements. She insisted that 'no measurement', and she said that this made her upset. I explained again, and she said OK, no apologize, and even without looking at me.I don't know why Howard's shoes store treats customers this way. It looks like I am the clerk and the clerk is the customer, and I need to explain and avoid making her feel upset. She even blamed us for her imagined behavior. This is just ridiculous. We love local stores and support the local stores, but the customers should not be treated with this rude, judgemental attitude. (I never heard of one single shoe store not allowing customers to compare prices, or customers have to decide to buy the shoes before they try them on, let alone that we even didn't try on the shoes we just compared A BIT, and bought the shoes we tried on...)I will never come to this store anymore unless the clerks change how they treat the customers.UPDATE: from the review response, I can tell how arrogant the store is. I don't think the clerk told the truth. She blamed us even BEFORE we went to the front. The logic I can see from the response is: It is ME to explain the action, so it is MY fault... Since I bought the shoes eventually, so the clerk's behavior has no problem. I cannot even check online and suggested to my husband not to rush since the clerk is there (at that time, we had finished the conversation with the clerk and we talked privately like you mentioned. BTW, the clerk mentioned that we used another language and how come she knows what we were talking about, so I guess she just assumed everything and said that I was planning to purchase online which is not true...) The clerk may forget to mention that she told us that we tried the shoes on so we couldn't use them as the measuring guide. Ironically, we bought the one that we tried, and the one we checked was never tried. I don't know how we can use never-tried-on shoes as the measuring guide.BTW, we know the clerk was busy helping the other customer so we just tried by ourselves, as we know the local store is not easy. However, I really think the clerk didn't treat customers (or a part of customers?) well, and the store even didn't try to find the truth and handle it properly. We are very disappointed.

We love Howard's:) Our daughter is 3. We have come twice in the last 365 days, each time buying a new pair of shoes. They have really great customer service, they really care about getting a good shoe for our daughter's needs. They are also very knowledgeable about shoes and kids. In our most recent visit, Karla helped us, and she is really good with kids. Even though our daughter would rather run around, Karla made it fun for our daughter to sit on her favorite color chair, and measure her foot by placing her foot on the fun sticker. We plan to come back when we need another pair of shoes for our daughter:) and we recommend Howard's:)

Whoever was working couldn’t be bothered to pause or end her personal conversation on the phone to help. I had to find a shoe and when asked for a specific size the response was “no, we don’t have it.” So you don’t have it or do you not want to be bothered to look? She didn’t make any other recommendations or help in any way. Looks like I’ll be driving out to Palo Alto now for kids shoes.

Nataly was super helpful in selecting the type of shoe that I was looking for my child. A nice selection of good brands to choose from.
