I love Madewell clothing, but the staff at this store is not very nice. I've been to this location several times, and have always walked out feeling like the sales associates didn't want me in there, and yesterday was no different. I was making a return from an online order and the girl who was helping me seemed so annoyed during our whole interaction, even though I felt an icy vibe from her and tried to defrost it by complimenting her sweater. I got not warmth back from her. She was just super flat and acted so put out by my return. I'll be driving all the way to LA to go to the Grove location because the people there are MUCH nicer.

Madewell is becoming the new Anthropologie, overpriced/oversized garbage. Went in looking for pants and they had the same stock from the last time I visited, which was around Christmas. All of the dressing rooms were closed because of Covid which doesn't really make sense because it doesn't make a difference? Maybe it's because of a staff shortage because there was no customer service. The girl in front of me in the dressing room line just walked into a room and had her boyfriend help fetch her clothes. Then when the employee came back, she almost opened the curtain on her. Another girl couldn't even get the same employee's attention for help. I didn't get any help with anything either. I'll just buy some pants online, thanks. For the price I expect better stock and service. Spare yourself and just shop this brand online or at Nordstrom's.

Update: Adriana is the sweetest lil angel!!! Wow, seriously such a lovely experience, it was like I was shopping with a bestie!! Def made my day! Come for the clothes, stay for the friends :')

I go to a lot of Madewell stores, but the people here, especially the manager named Adriana, is so kind and helpful. I came in with my family to shop after giving birth. I purchased a sweater, which Adriana helped me with. She made me feel so good about my purchase. I wore it the next day, and I was so happy I was able to fit in my normal size again. Thank you, Adriana for all your help. You made this new mom feel great again.

I get the vibe that they don't want me in the store, which is unfortunate because their merchandise is on the pricey side. You'd think the price tag would at least warrant a smile. That said, I opted for online purchasing. Not the best choice, either. I purchased three pairs of shoes online for in-store pick-up. When I received the email that the shoes arrived I went to pick them up the NEXT day - only to be told they weren't received. I showed the employees at the cash register the email I received and they finally agreed to go check the back room. They returned with one of the three pairs of shoes. I was told to call Madewell's customer service for further assistance. Customer service confirmed the shoes were received by the store the previous day and that I had to call the store. The store miraculously located my order and very (not) graciously agreed to send them to my home so I wouldn't have to make another trip to the store. Not the best experience. The last time I ordered online, I opted for home delivery to skip the whole in-store pick up fiasco. I ordered the small transport bag on 12/3/2019 at which time I was advised it wouldn't ship until April 2020. That was ok, so I ordered it. Last night (1/16/2020) at about 8 pm, I received an email that my order was canceled because it was sold out. And they were so nice they didn't charge me for it! Isn't the transport bag one of Madewell's staples? How could they sell out? I emailed back because I couldn't believe it would take them 6 weeks to figure out they couldn't fulfill my order. Well...less than 12 hours after Madewell canceled my order, it's back in stock - well, per Madewell cust svc, it's back on the website waitlisted for April delivery!! As in...I'd be in the exact same position I was in before!! Only now I have to re-order and notify them.... Madewell is just making me work waaay too hard to spend my money. I guess this is Madewell's way of putting me on a budget?

This Madewell location HANDS DOWN has the best customer service! One of their employees by the name of Issi literally spent like 25 minutes helping us sort out an exchange. She called other locations, checked their site, and did everything in her power to make sure that we were able to exchange our item for a different size that they didn’t have in stock. It was very clear that Issi was acting in our best interest and making sure that we were taken care of. It is very obvious that the Madewell employees pride themselves in fantastic customer service. Also my wife absolutely loves their products.

Totally agree with everyone on customer service. I had wanted to go to the store to check out the curvy fit jeans. An employee hovered over me while I looked at the jeans and asked my size (really not something I feel comfortable disclosing to random teenagers who are a 00). She then condescendingly remarked that they did not have my size in stock ("we don't have anything bigger than 26") and then remained hovering over me to inform me the next pair of jeans I looked at also were not available in my size. Perhaps I wanted to feel the material and fit of the jeans even though the store did not have one in my size? Perhaps I wanted to compare the curvy fit to the regular? Apparently these are not options the employees here consider and in their view, if the store doesn't have someone's size a person is not allowed to look and shop around. I felt incredibly uncomfortable with the employee's tone and her presence around me. Not sure when Madewell turned into Brandy Melville but frankly my experience has repelled me from returning to the South Coast Store or from ordering anything from Madewell online because clearly they do not want my business.

I was a first time Madewell shopper for myself while Christmas shopping for others. I bought my first pair of jeans by Madewell and a sweater can't wait to wear for Christmas! Anyways the girls were very helpful an patient, I had my 3week old baby and a 15 month old toddler so they were great! She pointed me in the right decision for my body type... something with a lot of stretch. I can't wait to take advantage of the recycling program to get $20 off my next pair of jeans.

I have the same issues with this store as I have with J. Crew at South Coast Plaza. Not really surprising considering that they are owned by the same company. The employees never offer help and are unfriendly. I always come in wanting to spend money because I like the aesthetic of their brand and I'm always drawn in by their window displays, but I'm always turned off by the employees and decide that I don't want to support this business.

Let me start by saying that I walked into this store unplanned... with that said, I started looking at the jeans and realized that all of them are high waisted! I was not having it. Hannah talked me into trying some on, the 10" skinny. And OMG... my life changed, right there in the fitting room, I was stoked! She told me about the recycling program so I was even more stoked at that point! I ended up buying three pairs of jeans that day, and I came back a few days later with my receipt and my recycle jeans. Smooth sailing from there. So here's the best part, one of the girls at work saw me in my jeans and was complimenting the fit. Like me, she was not interested in wearing anything high waisted but I encouraged her to go to Madewell and guess what?! She bought two pairs!! We are now two new fans of Madewell denim and Hannah has everything to do with it. Way to go, girl!

I guess I'm too short to close the fitting room curtains by myself, so it was kind of awkward struggling to close it, but then an employee came and closed it all the way for me. They have cute clothes.
