I am moving and needed to rent a budget truck. I am a bit of a planner so I reserved the truck a few weeks out. I called ahead of time of as well asking if they needed any additional documents from me as moving days can be long and stressful. When I arrived and told I was here to pick up my truck, I was alerted that they didn't have the truck I reserved available only a bigger version. They gave me a "free" upgrade however the bigger truck is harder to drive and worse on gas mileage. It did not feel like an upgrade.I was also hassled and told I needed to pay an additional $300 insurance fee or buy my own truck insurance. I was quite distressed about this surprise additional cost. The cashier told me several times that I should "just go to u-haul instead." Next time, I think I will. Overall, a very bad experience and I would not recommend renting a truck from them.

My fiancé rented a car here for 5 days for his work. He said they were very professional, efficient (quick check in & check out) & he had rented a great quality Kia that was in perfect condition!

Painless to rent a truck for a day. The cost jumps quickly when you get the insurance. Often your credit card will provide insurance for rentals like Budget and UHaul. Check first.

What a joke. Put in reservation a month ago for cargo van. Checked in night beforr scheduled pick-up and guess what no cargo van. Got a small 12ft truck .the outside hadn't been washed, windshield was filthy and hard to see through and no cleaning supplies or washer fluid available. After a mile out sensor keeps showing loose gas cap. Stopped gas cap was barely put on. Oh and they have posted outside their little single wide where they suggest u get a car wash. Have so much additional paperwork for you insurance to clear or they jack u for additional insurance fees. Too late to go somewhere else

Very disappointed in the service here. I had a 16 foot truck reserved 2 months before my move. The day of my appointment, 2 hours before I was supposed to pick up the truck, they called me saying they haven't had 16 foot trucks on their lot for months. They said even if you reserve a truck they can't guarantee the reservation can be completed. Instead of calling me when I made the reservation, they let me wait until the day I was supposed to move, with my movers scheduled & paid, to tell me they couldn't complete my reservation. Do not recommend.

I signed up for Avis Preferred and they gave a filthy car. The guy said he would provide a voucher for a car wash but that I would have to do the cleaning. Asked that I sign a dash cam waiver even when there was no dash cam in the car. So far this is the bottom of the barrel in customer service that I have received. I accidentally took the key home with me and when I went back to the rental office they both refused to take the key and told me to call roadside assistance. Roadside assistance told me to go to the rental office. Only by calling Avis corporate did I get help. This location is HORRIBLE!

Very bad experience. I did my reservation the day before and scheduled it for 9am and I get here early and the car is not here. The girl in front said "you did the reservation today so that's why we don't have anything until later". I let her know that I did it the night before and if they couldn't get a car then why did the system let me reserve it. She kept arguing that because I did it after hours. This was not the first place I checked for availability. I did my research and all the other places would not allow me to make a reservation because they could not make the time or type of car. Why not this place? Very bad service and very bad experience.

Do not rent from this location We had lost our key and they haven't resolved the matter in 3 days. Chris that works here said they have never dealt with a lost key situation and their roadside assistance that is to resolve the matter doesn't have the key code. There only solution is to tow the truck with our valuables inside but haven't showed up for 3 days. We have the truck loaded we ebikes because we had an sales event we were attending and the ebikes will be damaged if the truck is towed . They said if we break into the truck they will call the police. Worst customer service ever. Don't risk your valuables with budget Costa Mesa.

Definitely one of the most unprofessional employees.. I went in today within the last hour and I had told the lady that was helping me out not to run my card until I had funds and she didn't not care and did it anyway now that being said i have to wait another 24 hrs to be charged . So technically wasted my entire time I am coming from palmdale, ca so before you head down to waste your time make sure you are working with someone who cares about the clientes instead of trying to send you out right away. Very disappointed in what I have experienced I don't know the lady's name but she was American lady.

I was aware there was a massive rental car shortage and called a week ahead to double check, but when we arrived they were short. The gentleman was spending the day giving bad news, in circumstances beyond his control. Joe was able to help us get a car though, and considering we ordered this from Australia for a trip, we are very grateful he could squeeze us in. Hope the shortage is fixed soon!!
