First Class Service. This place made sure we got what we need (not just what they wanted to sell us). More importantly, they had heard we were helping out a senior (our father), so they told us we could just ask the fire department to help us out with the problem we had instead of buying something we’d only use once and fixing it ourselves. Great advice that worked like a charm!

Mark, the cashier, was notably rude to me, yet displayed a very friendly demeanor toward the customers behind me. I simply inquired about whether the store carried a specific brand of BBQ rub, to which he curtly responded, 'I don't know anything about that,' before immediately greeting the next customer with a much friendlier tone. This kind of interaction is disappointing and not what I expect from ACE, and I won’t be returning.

Their cashier was extremely rude to me. Not your friendly neighborhood hardware store, their return policy is medieval. They would be doing you a favor by closing down permanently. Will never darken their door again.

I grew up in Carlsbad and now own and manage a general contractor/outdoor living specialist focused on decks and patios (West Coast Deck). I’ve been coming to Denault’s for over 35 years. It mostly reminds me of my first little league home run (dead center at Chase Field a few blocks away).A few highlights that you might find useful at Denault’s:-screen repair/screen construction (hard to find)-Red Bull/Coke fridge-BBQ supplies-random gardening stuff-coastal grandma style tchotchkesFive stars.

I love this store. When I need something hardwarish I can pop in to Denault's have one of their vintage people find and help me with whatever thingamajig I'm looking for. Their customer service is top-notch! It certainly beats having to hike through Home Depot! In addition to the hardware charm, I love their household goods section. It's a great little gift store too! Their employees are friendly and it's always a delight to visit.

What does it mean to review a neighborhood hardware store? The very existence of this Ace Hardware increases the value of my home, I think. The purpose of most reviews is for you to choose where you shop, but unless you drive to Home Depot or Lowe's, or to another Ace Hardware 10 miles away, it's Denault's Ace Hardware. So it sort of doesn't matter what I say in this review. You'll go there when you need what they sell. It is distressingly common for reviewers to downrate a store because they once had bad service there. "I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5 because this morning I had to wait 6 minutes to get my paint mixed." Sheesh, people. Look at the big picture. I live about 1 mile from this store, and I've probably been to it 50 times. I've never had any trouble getting someone to help me or answer a question, and if I did have trouble, I'd be patient, because the wait is faster by far than driving somewhere else or ordering it from Amazon.Great store. Great location. Great selection of merchandise and great use of their limited square footage. Denault's Ace Hardware is a treasure. I hope that it survives real estate growth and development.

Denault’s is the life-saving everything you need in the way of hardware and advice to get you through the problems of the moment! Convenient on Carlsbad Village Drive and catering to neighbors not wanting to meander endlessly in warehouse stores. There is a very strong likelihood it has what you are looking for to get the job done at a lower price. Oh, and just like the box stores Denault’s offers a military discount!
