Avoid 24 Hour Fitness if you're looking for flexibility or a chance to try before you buy. I recently moved to the area and wanted to check out different gyms before committing. When I visited to ask about a trial day, their policies were ridiculously rigid and expensive.
First, they couldn't offer a single day trial. As a potential new customer, I found this incredibly short-sighted. How am I supposed to know if I like the facility without trying it?
Then, they told me a single day workout would cost $25! That's absurd for just one visit. Even worse, when my friend who's already a member offered to bring me as a guest, they wanted to charge him an extra $10 per month for one measly guest pass. Talk about nickel-and-diming your loyal customers.
The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Their inflexible policies and attempt to squeeze every penny out of potential and existing customers shows they care more about immediate profit than building a welcoming community. I'll be taking my business elsewhere, to a gym that actually wants new members.
If you're gym shopping in the area, I'd recommend looking at other options before considering 24 Hour Fitness. There are bound to be more accommodating places that will let you try before you buy without breaking the bank.

I've been going to this gym since the day it opened as it's conveniently located very close to where I live. The amount of equipment they have and the spaciousness is very nice, but i feel like there has been a decline in cleanliness and equipment maintenance over the past year or so. The cardio machines in particular are where I have the biggest issue. They are often filthy with dry sweat and paper towels that people leave in the drink holders. Given the amount of people that frequent this gym they should have a full time person(s) cleaning from the time they open until the time they close. They had one guy for a long time that I used to see cleaning and re-racking weights but I never see him or anyone else cleaning for that matter. As far as the equipment goes I typically only use the stair-master and currently they have 4 that are completely broken. 1 or 2 of them have not been in use for over 6 months, possibly a year now. There are at least another 3-4 machines that work, but they need maintenance. They are really bumpy and make lot's of noise when walking on them. On a positive note there is newer girl that works at the front desk that couldn't be any nicer. Always has a big smile on her face, says hello, asks how you're day is going, etc. She's great!

This 24 hour is not too bad! It kind of reminds me of the now closed Vista location, in terms of roominess. But the fact that they have no Pool, Steam, or Sauna room is criminal! ? Still the crazy amount of Squat Racks makes up for it! ??

This gym has the potential to be so good yet they don’t fix equipment in a timely manner (I can’t imagine parts on back order for 2ish months is a thing). Additionally, adjusting the cable machines is a workout in itself. The equipment doesn’t slide/glide when adjusting them. The palomar location is the better location in my opinion, but I give this location a chance every once in a while and am disappointed repeatedly. Staff is great, friendly, and helpful but the equipment maintenance lacks heavily.

Canceled my membership in January. Charged $248.00 for the renewal. I called the facility again to cancel, only to be told I had to come in and speak with a manager in order to cancel. I then went in person to do so. I spoke with Jimmy G. Nice fellow, but I was told I need to cancel online. Seems that I am getting the runaround. Perhaps this is how they get me to get my steps in? Easier to call my credit card company and cancel the charge.

I only give it one star because I can't give it zero. This place is a scam and I would recommend steering clear. I signed up for my son to have a membership and they said we would get 4 training sessions as part of the membership package. The salesperson never said that we had to use all the sessions in 30 days and we were out of town on family vacation for two of those weeks so we ended up never setting foot in the gym and never getting any training services. When I called them they refused to speak to me over the phone saying I had to come into the gym. Over the next 2 months they alternately said they would cancel the agreement, then said they wouldn't, then said they would pause it, then kept billing me anyway. AND, of course when I called about the billings they said there were no managers available and I had to come into the gym. When you call their national 800 number they literally give you directions to the website and then hang up on you. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I'm now in the middle of a fraud dispute through my credit card company which is a total hassle. 24 Hour Fitness has now billed me over $500 and We never set foot in the gym after we signed up. They won't talk to me on the phone, there is no customer service number, they don't respond by email and when you go to the gym they say there are no managers on duty. This should be illegal.

What happened to TWENTY FOUR hour fitness? Are they gonna change the name? At least have one of the Carlsbad locations open 24 hours. Now my subscription is suddenly pointless and I paid a year in advance. Not great. I’ll have to try and get a refund and look for an actual 24 hour gym

Equipment is well maintained and clean but none of it matters because ever since storm Hillary, the climate control has been busted, if its nice and cool outside, bet your bottom dollar it will be humid and miserable in this gym!
