Horrible Experience with Airstream Santa Barbara - Unsafe and Negligent
I recently purchased an Airstream from Airstream Santa Barbara, and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. This weekend marks the third weekend I’ve spent trying to resolve ongoing electrical problems, including a battery that still fails to charge with Shore Power.
Upon advice from the Airstream forums, I inspected the converter under the front sofa and discovered numerous improperly connected wires, burnt wires, missing nuts, and loose screws throughout the compartment. Despite my efforts to secure the connections, the charging issue persists. These are not factory defects but significant safety issues resulting from the dealership’s negligence.
If I had not installed a TPMS monitor on the trailer before leaving the dealership, I would have left with all four tires underinflated by 30 pounds. The trailer also had a faulty router that the factory confirmed had been previously damaged by one of their employees. These issues, while concerning, pale in comparison to the current electrical hazard, which poses a severe fire risk.
I was sold this vehicle as new, yet it was defective due to shoddy electrical work and unresolved wiring disarray. This unit should never have been sold in such a condition. My family and I did not cause these problems; they directly resulted from the dealership’s negligence. These issues have rendered the Airstream unusable and have caused significant financial hardship as I attempt to make necessary repairs through the factory. By selling me this compromised vehicle, they have potentially endangered my family and me.
The dealership has not responded to my formal requests to repair the trailer.
Avoid this dealership at all costs. Their negligence and lack of accountability are unacceptable.

Showed up unannounced with the day almost over and about to be closing time. After 4hrs of travel and no idea how the hitch stopped working. I briefly explained to Luis what the issue was and with skill and grace he proceeded to troubleshoot the hitch. 2 minutes later we had a fully functional hitch ! Beyond grateful for his knowledge and expertise. We will definitely be co

I’ve had my Airstreams serviced at multiple places on the east and west coasts and We Are Airstream Santa Barbara is head and shoulders above the rest (including their Arizona location). Everyone was incredibly nice and accommodating, and Luis ensured work that others had attempted was actually done right and on time. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

Good experience with Jane in Sales, Kellie in Admin and Luis in Service for the walk-through of new trailer. Helpful, honest and decent to work with if you understand the sales process. Bring your own hitch ball though, for whatever reason they have nothing available and no tools unless you want the $1,000 extra hitch.

Fantastic experience looking at all the different styles and sizes. No pressure to buy now. Both trailers and B+ vans.

Dan was absolutely amazing! I don’t own an Airstream but they have replacement parts for everything . Dan helped me troubleshoot my hot water heater issue, tested my circuit board for free and had the parts I needed. I’m so grateful. Thank you!!

Unfortunately, the service department does not return phone calls. We have been told multiple times we will get a call back and there is no response. I am not sure how you operate such an operation in this Valley with inferior follow through.

Luis saved the day! We had a panel come loose on our 1969 Safari on an extended trip, and he kindly worked us in while we were traveling through the area. He was generous with his time and expertise. Many thanks!

If you're considering buying a new airstream look elsewhere to make your purchase. Morgan Hill or Inland Empire would be my suggestions. Apparently Santa Barbara was a good option a year ago or so, but recently they were bought out and now are owned by a bigger cooperation and not a 'mom and pop' operation any longer. We bought our 27' rear hatch international from them and the whole process was bad. Absolutely no communication from start to finish. We were supposed to be told when it was going on the manufacturing floor so we could go watch it be put together, no communication. When it was around the time for it to be delivered to Santa Barbara I went up there to see about delivery date, I was told it would be at least another month because of problems with delivery drivers. Then we got a call the next week that it was in. We went up to do our initial inspection and found a few things that need to be fixed and added some things we wanted done. We were told it would be 1-2 weeks to get everything done. It took them over a month to give us a call that it was ready for pick up. We went up for the pickup and the first thing I checked out that they were supposed to fix hadn't been fixed and was told that they would fix it when we brought it back for the 90 day inspection. This being our first trailer/coach you would think they would help you hook it up to your truck, not a soul around to ask questions to or give advise. As we drove off the lot it was like a ghost town, plenty of employees inside but not one came out to say congratulations. You would think that when you spend that kind of money there would be some sort of recognition, nothing. Very poor customer service. Hopefully they can improve when we bring it back for the 90 day inspection.
