Just to name a few, the staff here (Jennifer, Sarah, Ed) are amazing! They are extremely accommodating and provide excellent customer service. We've had our camp trips here a few times and always return! Beautiful location, clean, great ice cream, and best staff! One of our families (literally) best get'aways!!!

We live locally and love to take our kid to the playground there (it's fantastic and about the only shady spot in all of loma rica) plus it's worth it just to get ice cream from the general store!

We stayed during the middle of the week in March for Spring Break. Then entire reservation and check-in process is seamless and painless. All camp sites were clean and spacious. The only negative, is that the porta johns at the campsites needed to be drained. With that being said, the johns were CLEAN, I mean very clean. There were no insects flying around in there. You cannot smell anything outside the porta johns. It was well stocked. Fishing was good, it really depends on the time of day and the bait you use... or how often you prayed to the fishing gods.

This place is so fun! I have been coming since I was a kid and the icecream is a must have. Totally affordable and huge scoops! Campsites are sometimes close together and the water was a little low this time but nothing they have control over. The icecream literally makes it so exciting for our girls the memories made at this place are forever

We stayed here for a few days in March 2021. Very nice campsite, with picnic table and barbecue. This was our first visit to Collins Lake, and we were impressed with the size of the lake (1600 acres, 12 miles of shoreline) and the size of the campground. There are about 500 campsites, so there is quite a bit of activity! The have RV campsites with hookups, RV sites without hookups, tent sites, cabins and rv trailer rentals. There is a marina, a camp store, boat rentals, playgrounds, and hiking trails. Even though it was March, and the weather a bit cold, there were plenty of campers over the weekend. Sunday afternoon, however, almost everyone left, and we had the place to ourselves. Very peaceful. My husband did a bit a fishing near the dam, and caught a nice-sized big mouth bass. Their website states that they plant more than 50,000 trout during spring, so fishing is a main activity here. Only negative to our stay was while walking our dog near the dam, he picked up several nasty, huge, sharp burrs. Not sure where he got them; the burrs must have been in the rocks, because we didn't walk on grass or weeds or anything like that. Our visit to the store was pleasant; the staff were friendly and helpful. There were customers without masks, though, and staff didn't seem to be enforcing the "must wear mask to enter store" rule.

'm actually torn about this campground review. I really just want to keep this gem to myself. Collins Lake in Brown Valley, CA just North of Sacramento is absolutely outstanding! There are over 100 RV sites and more tent sites than I could count. With some right up on the lake this campground is a flat out year round playground. The fishing is incredible with Trout, Small Mouth Bass, Catfish, and Blue Gill a plenty. You can rent fishing boats for the day or for the week. In the summer this lake is great for swimming, water skiing and floating. You can rent one of the campground's pontoon boats or a double decker party boat equipped with a bbq and slide or launch your own boat and get yourself a boat slip at a reasonable price. My boys (and I) really dug the ice cream shop at the quaint general store and their generous scoops. Oh and their coffee shop has a Mexican Mocha that is phenomenal. Now this campground isn't geared towards the larger diesel motorhomes, but we did manage to find a great lake front spot for our 35' diesel towing an F-150. No sewer hookups as this campground is so close to the water, but they do have water and electric and offer honeypot service that can handle emptying your tanks each day for a fee. They also have a few dump stations if you'd rather handle it yourself. Hot showers, clean restrooms, firewood, propane and gasoline service all right here. All that being said, the folks that work at the campground (family run since 1972) are just about as nice and helpful as it gets. You won't find any pretentiousness here. Just kind individuals that truly want guests to have a good time and make memories. So my overall review of Collins Lake? 5 Stars all the way! My kids and I have had an awesome time here on more than one occasion. Beautiful scenery, awesome staff for the most part, but you know how teen girls can be sometimes with attitude, lol. I wouldn't suggest going fri-sun unless your into party and crowds, but like mon-wed is perfect! Quiet, mostly older folks and respectful families. Totally safe, I've gone by myself with my kids every time because my husband had to work...no biggie. Weekends are off the hook! Sometimes even starting Thursday nights, not my scene at all, but to each his own. Some items in the general store are a bit pricey but not too bad and hey, you're in the sticks! Didn't you bring what you needed! I can say that because our first trip I didn't Live and learn. Anyway, definitely the most affordable place to take the family on a vacation. We're tent campers, but I prefer the RV sites due to them having water, electricity, and an ample amount of distance between sites. Loved it! We went twice this past summer, Father's Day week m-w and then again in august.

The lake itself is clean and beautiful. The staff sucks. They are not helpful. I stood at the register to pay and the staff looks my way but do not come to assist. The always rude to me. Although I love fishing this lake for trophy sized largemouth and spotted bass, I will not return.

I would have given less stars but their customer service is pretty good, and you can't really blame them for what I don't like about this place. The biggest reason for not getting more stars from me is the place is way too hot in the summer, even at night. It is still in the valley so the nights are still hot. There are lots of people around. It's ok if you like it that way, just not my type of camping.

Pros - Staff is very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were maintained and trash cans were emptied often. We left a day early due to a loud neighboring campsite and a refund was offered. Cons - Campsites are way too close together and have very limited shade. Everything is dry, dusty and rocky. No easy paths to the bathrooms, be prepared to walk uphill/downhill over rocks. Beach is very rocky. The walk from the beach back to the campsite is uphill with no shade. 10PM music curfew is not enforced. People were smoking in kids swim area. Dogs were also in the water at the kids swim area and two dogs almost started fighting. Covid-19: Masks were required to enter the store. None of the security staff or workers at the kiosk wore masks. No social distancing was happening on the beach or enforced at packed campsites.

Unless you like a filthy shoreline, filthy campsite and meth freaks from Marysville as your neighbors, don't waste your time or money on this place during the summer. It MAY be good in early spring and fall for fishing, but trust me, this place blows as a campground for summer camping. We booked this campground for our 3 year old granddaughter's very first camping trip and could not have been more appalled at the conditions. We were at our site long enough to take note of the squalid conditions, including trash all along the shoreline, in the campsite, and our carnival worker neighbors. Our granddaughter said she was 'going to barf' as we walked along the shoreline. We left 15 minutes after getting there, forfeiting three days of fees and we were glad to do it. We camp very often and I have camped my entire life. This campground rates as one of the worst campgrounds ever as far as a 'family campground' goes. Ironically, that is exactly how they advertise this hovel. This place got one star only because I couldn't figure out how to give zero stars. But in fairness to them, I did see some people with massive ice cream cones from the camp store, so there's that.

I do not recommend staying at Collins Lake. We went 3 years ago and liked it enough to book again this summer. Recent experience was very different (bad) compared to the first time. Chemical toilets were not serviced enough leading to nasty odors in 108 degree heat. Showers were not working working; which if fine if you know ahead of time. But finding out after being naked and putting coins in is NOT when you want to learn about it. A simple sign on the door would have been nice. We left early because we felt unsafe and did not get any rest. There was no regulation from staff on quiet time or 6ft social distancing rule. The campsites next to us were playing music until 3am and partying with up to 30 people all jammed together.
