Me and my friend take souvenir pictures here and the security assuming us as commercial photo shooting, the security asumes my friend as a photographer just because she didn’t dress up. And they want to charge us, then they take a picture of me said we are reporting you, even I said I don’t know why you reporting me, they didn’t explain, and refusing deleting the photo. And there no instruction to remind the visitors that the security have right to take any visitors pictures for reporting. So I feel so offensive and call the police, when the police come and the security explained to me nicely and they said they will delete the photo. That’s irony.

I love exploring the Greystone Mansion and Gardens in Beverly Hills. It has been around for 96 years since 1928 when it was a gift from oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny to his son, Edward "Ned" Doheny Jr. and his family.
Greystone Mansion is used for music videos and tons of movie filming locations like Mariah Carey's We Belong Together.
Then for movies, there was Stripes (1981), The Witches of Eastwick (1987), The Bodyguard (1992), the first two Ghostbusters films, Spider Man films, Air Force One (1997), Rush Hour (1998), The Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties and The Holiday (both in 2006), National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) ,The Social Network (2010), and The Muppets (2011).
I remember when me and my family came here to this mansion since November 22nd, 2015.

We had a very nice visit to the place in May on a weekday at 5pm. It was very quiet and the free parking lot was almost empty. The gardens are well maintained and the views of the LA skyline are very nice. We saw some couples that were taking photographs for their wedding and some wannabe influencers for their instagram. The mansion itself can be visited and is open for a self guided tour but we didn’t enter it. I recommend this instead of spending time in the Beverly Hills shopping district. There are public restrooms available (basic) in the building.

After the effort to get there via mass transit (which was a lengthy trip) we discovered that the primary garden area was closed for préparations for an evening private event...even though we had checked the online calendar and saw that it was clear.
What little of the property that WAS open was on sad condition. The grounds are clearly not being maintained, other than one area used for private events. Another walking path was closed due to crumbling bricks. Overall, it was a huge disappointment and definitely not worth our effort to get there. Very sad because it could be a beautiful garden space.

Worth checking out, beautiful property! I do remember it was difficult getting around with a stroller, though.
