Wow what a great guy who got the job done. I got a custom suit from Ben who is all things fashion and makes Phil Zimmer look like an amateur. You never looked so good!I ordered a 3 piece suit with custom shirt and could not of been happier. His consulting is golden and helped guide my decisions.As people have said he is a dog whisperer as our dogs loved him.If you want a HIGH END custom suit that you will love for many years then you definitely should call Ben.He comes to your home so you don't have to worry about anything.5 stars

Thank you, Ben! My partner decided to wait last minute to get a suit for my cousin's wedding and Ben was able to pull it all together within a short time frame. The whole experience was fantastic and the suit turned out very well. I would highly recommend Onyx Custom Suiting to anyone!

Ben was soooo amazing!! Not only is the suit absolutely stunning, but he was the ONLY person able to get my fiance fitted his suit to him in less than a month with our short notice wedding! I am so floored! He is extremely professional and really knows what he's doing! I would never again recommend anywhere else if you're looking for a custom suit!! You will not be disappointed!

I worked with Ben to create my dream suit for my wedding last September.Ben is absolutely awesome. He was knowledgeable and professional from every step of the process from scheduling, fitting, fabric, and detail selection. He goes above and beyond. He had traveled to Seattle to meet with another client and made time to meet with me last minute (thanks Ben!!). He got me fitted that day and worked with me to find the color and refine the details remotely the following week. Being new to custom suits, his guidance was invaluable.The suit was and is perfect. Fit was dead on, color was exactly what I was looking for, and quality is impeccable. I’ve had department store suits develop stray threads after a few wears but Ben’s suit has stayed strong a year later.

I found Onyx Custom Suiting after a bit of searching online for a fun custom suit experience. The reviews on Google and 5-star rating are 100% earned. Ben was wonderful, he provided great insight and recommendations while guiding me to the perfect suit for my wedding, and one I plan to continue to wear. Ben was incredibly helpful and flexible in the months leading up to my wedding as weight fluctuated - often working late hours and making himself available on the weekends in order to accommodate my time table. 10/10 would recommend.

I was in need of a new suit to attend a wedding, and with a month to go I was on the fence between reaching out to Ben or getting an off the rack suit. I am SO glad I went with Ben. My experience with him was nothing short of amazing - the quality and fit of the suit is stunning, and his turnaround time of ~2 weeks was incredible.What impressed me more than the product was Ben himself. He was extremely patient, informative, and attentive when helping me find the look that I wanted, even though I spent nearly two hours mulling over and flip-flopping between choices. Whether it was color, sheen, style, material, etc, Ben really helped guide me to an informed decision. My experience with Ben was in stark contrast to a suit shop I visited, where they heard I would be attending a wedding, slapped a loose-fitting tux on me, and called it a day... (and quoted me $1000 for the outfit)All in all, I am just an incredibly happy customer! This was the first time I ever remember being excited to wear a suit and I'll definitely be going back to Ben for my next suit.

I hired Ben to make my suit for my wedding this summer. Ben was extraordinarily helpful and a great person to work with. From scheduling to the final fitting he made things easy. Here's the short version: Onyx is great, Ben is the man, I paid less than I expected to, and this is easily the best suit I've ever owned. Getting ready to go to a wedding for the first time since the pandemic, I realized every "nice" piece of clothing in my closet no longer fit (hell, half of it never did), and looked cheap. For the first time in ages, I wanted to impress. And I really meant to get out to a tailor with months to go before the wedding... but life kept getting in the way. Before I knew it, I had 3 weeks to go and no suit to wear. I found Onyx online, gave them a call, and had Ben out at my house the next night. He had no problem coming out after the kids were in bed, came with samples and photos ready to go, and helped me do the thing I hate most: shop for clothes. And honest to god, I had a good time doing it. Less than 2 weeks later, Ben was back with a custom made suit and shirt, and it's the best I've looked in ages--maybe ever. I feel good, I feel like me, I never once felt lost or in over my head, and I look awesome. Is it the most expensive thing in my closet? Yeah. Sure it is. But (A) it also looks and feels like it's worth every penny, and (B) it still didn't cost as much as I would have been charged by plenty of other places in Berkeley--and those guys wouldn't have been able to even make it in time!Calling Onyx was one of the best moves I've ever made when it comes to fashion. Ben was awesome to work with from that first phone call through the final fitting. I'm already wondering if maaaaybe I need one more suit in my arsenal. A guy's gotta be prepared, after all.

Five star service and an amazing custom suit is what you can expect from Benjamin and Onyx. From the start Benjamin was amazing to work with and was all about customer service. He came to my house for the fitting consultation after my kids were down, which was so helpful and convenient. During the consultation, he gave me advice on the suit with gentle suggestions, but let me and my wife make the ultimate calls, which was really appreciated. And the fitting was fun! Benjamin is easy going and easy to talk to. We also gave Benjamin less than two weeks to get the suit together, which we never thought he would be able to do. He did it. And the suit turned out amazing. I'm going back to him for my next suit or jacket, no questions asked. My wife plans on ordering something from him too because she loved the experience and suit so much.

I worked with Ben to make a wonderful custom three-piece suit for my wedding in May 2023. I reached out to him about 2 months before the wedding. Although I would not normally be the type of person to get a custom suit made from scratch, I initially decided to work with Ben because his pricing was extremely competitive with larger retail chains that sell you a suit based on the model of “off-the-rack + alterations”. Ben did an extremely extensive initial consultation at my apartment where we discussed every aspect of the suit, down to the smallest details. I’m a fairly lanky guy, and as he was measuring me (also extensive) he paid special attention to discussing with me precisely how I would like the suit to fit, and how that would make it look when I was wearing it. After showing him photos of myself in other suits (from the aforementioned retail stores) and a small amount of deliberation, he easily identified why off-the-rack suits don’t fit me very well and specifically designed my suit to avoid those problems. Ben’s attention to detail and kind, confident demeanor gave me 100% confidence that the suit would turn out great.Making the suit took about 5 weeks. Unfortunately, once the suit was made and Ben brought it to my apartment for the initial fitting, the jacket did not fit like we had discussed (it was too big by a significant margin), and the custom bowtie I ordered did not fit at all (despite the neck of my shirt fitting perfectly). The pants, shirt, and vest fit very well and looked excellent. Ben’s reaction to this made it seem like there had been an error. To be honest, this was a bit disappointing because I was really excited to try on the suit and I was confident it would fit perfectly after the extraordinarily attentive consultation. Nevertheless, Ben got the jacket fixed quickly (less than 1 week), at no additional cost to me. The timing of this was a bit unfortunate since he seemed incredibly busy at the time, and my wedding was fast approaching. I ended up picking up the altered jacket myself from a local tailor shop, and Ben didn’t offer to follow up with me for a second fitting in person. I also had to get the bowtie fixed myself.In the end, the suit fit very well; better than anything else I have ever worn. It looked amazing at the wedding, and the price was incredibly good compared to retail stores. I just expected the process to be significantly less stressful and more precise, given that is part of Ben's pitch to work with him rather than a big store. Perhaps if I had allowed for 3 months time before the wedding, instead of 2, some aspects of my experience would not have felt so stressful.

This is the place to go for suits and shirts - I won't be looking at any other places from now on. Just got my first suit here - Ben is incredibly knowledgable about suiting - knows the history, the trends, fits, everything. The consultation was very thorough and friendly, Ben took the time to go through every detail and every measurement and get my sense of style. Anything I didn't know or had a question about, he patiently gave a background and showed different examples. The final product looked amazing and I've never had such a comfortable fit for nice clothes.

Crème de la crème. Absolutely love the way my suit turned out! We had been quoted for a $5,000 inferior suit at Hall Madden in SF. My wife found Onyx via Instagram so we decided to give them a shot. Ben came to our place for a custom fitting within 48 hours. He went above & beyond with his attention to detail along with the amazing options to customize my suit exactly to my liking. My only regret is not getting another 3/4 suits with the money saved! I’ll certainly be getting all my suits tailored by Ben moving forward. 5 star service! No need to look anywhere else. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience and final product. Ben was so patient during our first meeting and provided the perfect amount of guidance as we arrived to a final decision on my wedding suit. The fit, the color, the details - everything was perfect.
