Worst experience ever , took in five solid cherry wood doors for a vanity to be refinished to match existing colour and have anew finish applied on inside and out. Quoted $150.00 per door put $300.00 up front and the balance on pick-up . Got a call to say they were ready upon inspecting they were not the same colour as supplied ,there was not a square inch with out dust in the finish said come back in a week and we will make good .Went back the front faces were finished the edges were not and the insides were not the same colour one door had been dropped on a corner and now there is a dent to be repaired .Cut my losses [$300.00]and moved on . Now have to find some else to redo .

Took the furniture many weeks ago. Doesn’t answer phone calls. Shop is closed - I don’t know what is going on.

New ownership. Terrible result, after months of having my item and not responding to calls/emails. Have to fix the damage that I can myself, and live with the damage that I cannot fix.

October 2nd, 2023. Schenk's has been bought and sold a few times since the original owner and prices have gone up. The current owner did a beautiful job staining our 100 + year old tabletop. However, we also took in two carved cane wingback chairs from my mother's estate around the same time, and Schenk’s had them for two months! They were to be stripped and receive the same stain as the table. After about 6 weeks, we went in to get them but there had been a miscommunication and they were not ready. The owner was reluctant to show us the chairs so I made my way to the back of the shop and they were still dripping with stripper. We were scheduled to pick them up on a Monday, but on the weekend the owner texted to say he needed until Thursday to spray another clear coat, indicating to us that the staining had been done. On Thursday morning he texted to say he had found a run and asked us to come the following Tuesday because he needed to fix it. On Tuesday we arrived to find our chairs had been painted with VALSPAR interior satin house paint. There was fuzz, rough bumps, runs, and gouges in the paint. The owner had made the decision (shocking he thought he had that creative freedom for property he doesn't own) to paint the chairs. He said he felt that he had ruined our chairs (that cost my mother $2000.00 each) and that we could decide whether or not to pay him the remaining balance owing. He said when he had them stripped, there were different wood tones in the chair. It became clear to us that the owner had been dishonest. He should have called us in to look at the chairs before he painted them so that we could have decided the course of action. Instead, he seems to have realized he had a problem he could not fix, and he did the cheapest, easiest thing he could do to bail out. Needless to say, we didn't pay the balance owing, and will never return. Refinishing furniture requires colour sense, a sense of aesthetics and artistry, an understanding of furniture history, attention to detail and subtleties, and excellent customer service. It is sad Schenk's is being run into the ground.

After both an online inquiry and a phone message, no one bothered to respond. If I could leave no stars I would.

Schenks did a fantastic job refinishing our dresser and two night stands. It's like we have brand new furniture. He took our white peeling furniture and stripped it, stained it, and finished it. It is now a rich dark brown. He even stripped the the paint off the handles so that the handles match the new stain color. Schenks furniture was very easy to work with. Responsive to phone calls and texts. Picked up and dropped off furniture. All we had to do was go to their shop to pick out a stain color after the furniture was stripped. Thank you for the great service and amazing finished product!

Schenk’s refinished a maple table that had been damaged by pet urine and stain matched it to a ( non-matching oak table). Matching stain to different species of wood takes workmanship and attention to detail, and the end result is beautiful! Many thanks for the great work done with what I believe was a reasonable price. Highly recommend refinishing your older solid pieces over buying cheap replacements typically sourced from tropical woods with questionable supply chains, labour practices and environmental impacts.

We are so happy with the restoration of our oak desk. Shenks was able to restore stained wood, repair hardware and stain match to other pieces of our furniture. We had a specific timeline to have the furniture returned to us and Shenks was able to accommodate us. We highly recommend Shenks. You won’t be disappointed.

Schenks restored a badly damaged early Victorian dining table which had broken and bubbling veneer and a damaged finish. They did an excellent job. I am very happy with the results.
