Despite this minor shortcoming, I would undoubtedly recommend this grocery store to others. Its commitment to quality, variety, and value make it a strong contender in the local market.

The quality of the vegetables here is best. Some items can be a little pricey here, but when it comes to items that don't last long, Safeway is the best place. They have the freshest veggies.

The dietcoke 500ml bottles in the deli cooler are expired from 2023 ?
Also noticed the cake slices in the bakery are getting smaller it's now half the amount it used to be for the same price.
You also cannot get help at the bakery most hours of the day it takes 40 mins to read a sign , go back to customer service get them to call someone who's not going to come and finally get an item out of the case- I usually just leave without anything since there's never anyone there to help customers
It's kind of disappointing every time I come that everything I come for is either expired or I can't get it because it's behind a case, or it's unavailable and sold out :/

The manger of this store, Megan, and her staff have been delightful. 5 stars for them! The assistant manager, Todd, however was both comical and cringe worthy today. I found it somewhat embarrassing that he would tell a customer that he was overruling the manager and would need to talk to her to set her straight. He gave me the vibe of a former CEO that is mad he has to work a normal job, and thinks he is the top dog. I would not want someone with his level of ego to be the assistant manager of any store, seeing as he is overstepping his boundaries and doesn't seem to understand his role in the position he was gifted with. There are many humble people in need of work who would be more qualified and deserving of his job.

I visit the Safeway at Southgate regularly, and I'm consistently impressed by their service. The store is clean and well-organized, making it easy to find everything I need. The staff is always friendly and ready to help, whether it's answering questions or assisting with locating products. Their produce section is fresh, and the variety of products, from organic options to household essentials, is fantastic.
The checkout process is usually quick, even during busy hours. I appreciate their self-checkout option for when I'm in a hurry, though there's always a cashier ready if I need assistance.

It's a fine grocery store. No complaints. Wish the side entrance was still usable and connected to the mall though, I think they closed it off ages ago which was unfortunate for accessibility reasons.

Excellent experience. I met Cynthia here, who went out of the way to help me. Bought a great yummy cake, and I highly recommend it. Just the correct portion of cake, whipped cream, crunch of chocolate shaving, just the cherry on top had chemically taste. Hope they can make it with strawberry too. It's a nice, clean, organized place to shop.
