I hadn't been to Jackson's in several years, but I remembered really loving it a lot and decided to bring my parents here when they were in from out of town on weeknight. Our waitress was entirely friendly, but the venue and food were disappointing. The space seemed much dirtier than I had remembered, as though the floors hadn't been swept and the booth hadn't been wiped down. The food was a big let down: we ordered some Brussels sprouts that were so salty they were almost inedible, and the salmon dish was just nothing special. With so many great places literally within walking distance, I can't say I have a good reason to go back again to Jackson's.

The Reuben was first notch! Serve was very good and the UFO white Belgium was a good choose with lunch.

I can't even begin to count the number of times that I have been to Jackson's over the last several years - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If there's a word to explain this place, it's consistent. I have never had a bad experience when it comes to my food or service ever. Some of my favorites on the menu includes the champagne salmon Caesar salad when I feel like being good and anything that includes the pimento cheese - either the BLT or pimento burger - when I want to be bad. The verde dip appetizer can be eaten straight from the bowl with nothing but a spoon it is SO GOOD. Brunch at Jackson's is also great. The grits are awesome and the biscuits are huge. Excellent place for a late weekend breakfast. Finally - do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. The gooey butter cake is the stuff dreams are made of, but y'all, I have 4 words for you.... Cookie Dough Egg Roll. Omg!!!! Get the cookie dough egg rolls!!! Don't even share. Eat the whole thing alone and don't even feel bad about it. Fried egg roll wrappers filled with soft, melty cookie dough served hot under a huge scoop of delicious vanilla ice cream. Geez. Just go try it.

Worst service and food ever! Server was completely rude and condescending. Service was so horrible! We reported it twice and yet it got worse! Food was horrid! I ordered salmon and waiter said it would be cooked medium, which isn't great but usually fine. It was so over cooked it was no longer pink and the rice was so over cooked I was spitting it out! Brussel sprouts should NEVER be boiled before they are broiled!! Just bad! And it was completely empty on a Thursday night! That should have been the first sign! If you use to like it, trust me, it's changed! Skip it! Soho Social across the street was hopping! We'll go there next time!

We've recently started coming here and we're confused why it wasn't packed considering the weekly specials are pretty awesome and the food is great! Service is good, prices could be better ($10-12 for a burger). It looks like maybe the new management has done a good job turning the place around, I would definitely recommend this place!

Went there today for happy hour with a group of friends. There was sufficient seating and we had a great time. I ordered the sangria, which was delicious. They only had four appetizers available for half price during happy hour 3pm-6pm. Our service was great and parking was a plus.

Update: We went back to Jackson's and it was great. Our server said they axed the old GM and returned many of the old menu items. Service and food was great and we'll be back. What the heck have these guys done? The menu has been greatly simplified leaving just standard bar food. We ordered two pizzas, a fried chicken sandwich and a bowl of gumbo. It honestly sucked. The chicken was over cooked, the bread was stale and the greens in the side salad were warm and wilted. The gumbo was embarrassing. I can make a better gumbo in my sleep. The pizzas were unforgettable. One actually had no sauce. The service was bloody slow considering the place was empty on a Saturday night. Moribund. Unless they make major changes, they're gone in 6 weeks.

Went here about 6 months ago and this place was awesome. Art everywhere and the food was delicious. Went today and the walls were bare and the service was okay. There were a lot of items on the menu that were scratched off with a pin and it appeared as all they were serving was fried food. Not impressed. There are better options in Birmingham. Very disappointed.

Honestly this place was really disappointing. I saw it was only 3 stars but my dad had recommended it and I thought "hey the rating doesn't always equal what I think of the restaurant".... Boy was I wrong on this one. The service was fine, but my food came out 10 minutes before anyone else's did which is just now how you do things at a restaurant. The food: dont let my pretty photo fool you. I ordered the meatloaf with mac and cheese. Therein lies the first issue, it came out with mashed potatoes but I honestly ordered the meatloaf for the mac and cheese. The waitress explained they replaced the macaroni because it kept getting sent back for being bad and people prefer mashed potatoes. It would of been nice to know that when I ordered it. Heck just redo the menu so people know. The meatloaf itself was fine but honestly extremely spicy and I was sweating by the end of eating it. Overall an extremely forgettable experience :(

I really don't like this spot. I had the buffalo feathers and they tasted like straight vinegar.

I have never had an experience like this at a restaurant for brunch on a Saturday with few customers. After sitting down and ordering drinks, it took about 25 minutes to get our drinks and still no opportunity to order. We decided to ask for the checks to find that one Irish Coffee cost $17. They charged us $9 and $8 separately for a shot of Jamison and Baileys in a 16oz coffee. I have never heard of this in my life. The drink wasn't on the menu, but it would make sense to tell your customer before ordering that one small drink that honestly was tasteless could cost so much. My Bloody Mary was $6.50, so the price difference is truly ridiculous. The most disappointing part was when we asked the waitress about the price, she said she would ask the manager, but returned about a minute later to say it was correct. No idea how she was able to do that in such a speedy manner. We left quickly after paying. So disappointing.

Stopped in here for a couple of drinks after work with my new co workers! The waiter/bartender was awesome! He's a looker with a nice beard too!!!
