I'm not sure where to begin or what to say... Like many others, I made a big mistake by not checking the reviews before attempting to rent a truck from this awful place.I had made a reservation online a few days in advance, and the website indicated that the truck was available at that location, so everything seemed fine. However, the horror began on the evening before my moving day. A man named Dennis called me and said not to come because they didn't have a truck. I was taken aback and asked if they had any other trucks available, even if they were bigger or smaller. He claimed that someone had stolen the catalytic converter and there were no trucks available.Since I lived nearby, I decided to go to the location anyway. When I arrived, I found an extremely unattractive parking lot and an even worse building, but there was no one there. Surprisingly, there were at least 10 trucks, including 4 of the size I had reserved. I called Dennis back, but he didn't answer. After a few minutes, he called me back and started yelling at me, telling me F...k yourself and to go rent from U-Haul and then hung up.I spent over an hour on the phone with Budget's customer service (1-800) trying to resolve the issue, only to find out that they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee, even though it wasn't my fault. Eventually, they waived the fee as a one-time courtesy. I made it clear to the lady on the phone that this would be my first and last time attempting to rent a truck from them.It's clear that Dennis is not being truthful and did not really cancel the reservation in order to potentially collect a cancellation fee. This is how they make money by scamming people.This guy, Dennis, was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and spoke to me in a very nasty manner over the phone. It's no surprise that there are no positive reviews for this place, except for his own, which is a shame.If you're in need of renting a truck, I strongly advise you to save your sanity and go somewhere else like U-Haul, Enterprise, or anywhere but not there. I still can't believe that place even exists.

Don't bother making a reservation online, they will call you the day before your move and tell you nothing is available and to drive 30+ min away to pick up what you need. And because they will call you the day before they will probably try to hit you with a cancellation fee. Pay a little more and go anywhere else.

Wow… not surprised of the other reviews here. I guess I should’ve looked before booking from here a truck. Guy on the phone so rude, tells me after few hours of booking that he doesn’t have a truck, then why do you let me reserve if no truck available. Then in the end just hung up on me, no bye, no sorry for the inconvenience. Gotta take this to corporate level because this kind of business and disrespect towards clients is unacceptable

BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!!OMG! Where do I start???I chose this location for proximity to my house since they are charging by mile...I did my reservation through the website (WITHOUT CHECKING THE REVIEWS HERE!!! - HUGE MISTAKE) and the website doesn't let you book earlier than 1.5 hours ahead.I get to this location about 30 min before my reservation, and when I pull into their parking lot, the olace looks shady with 2 different phone numbers on the windows to call if need help (one sign says "I am in the area, call me and I'll be here shortly).One of the numbers is disconnected, and the other one goes to voicemail that advertises the location on Elston). I coll the number in my email reservation, and surprisingly, it goes to the same voicemail!I end up leaving a voicemail.After waiting another 1.5 hours, I decided to call the 1-800 number to reach Budget customer service.They offer to move my reservation to the location on Dempster, but when I am on the line with them, the guy who was in charge of the Niles location finally calls me back. I disconnect with customer service and take his call just to get a nasty attitude " you must have made the reservation after I left for the day (my reservation was for 2:30pm and I made it at 1:00pm) and I tell him that! He then says, "I am far away, so I am not coming back. I will cancel your reservation" AND HE JUST HANGS UP THE PHONE!!!!!!I call the 1-800 number again and end up switching my reservation to the Demster location, which ends up being a great location with a helpful gentleman!!!I'm checking the reviews now. I see that 2 out of the 3 positive reviews are made by the owner "Dennis" hahahahaha - he even thanks himself in one of them!!!!It is m8nd blowing hot corporate Budget still let's this location operate!BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!!

Rent ANYWHERE else! I flew in this morning, took a $60 Uber to this location, nobody is here, I call, they tell me to pick up in the city! No call to let me know that or anything. And Dennis was a real prick about it all. Spend your money elsewhere!

Made an agreement with a man over the phone that he'll be there at 7:30 am, to get me a rental truck. He said that he'll be there on time. 8:00 am came and still nobody was there. I called the number and it went to a voicemail. Minutes later I get a text from an unknown number saying " I open at 9".WHAT?! I replied stating that we had an agreement at 7:30 am and so on. No further replies were received.WHAT A JOKE OF A COMPANY!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE INCOMPETENT AND UNRELIABLE PEOPLE!P.S. IT LOOKS LIKE THE OWNER DENNIS IS WRITING HIS OWN REVIEWS! WHAT A SCAM. BUDGET SHOULD CLOSE THIS LOCATION FOR FRAUD.

I should trust my eyes when I seen 1.5 starts on review and don’t chose this place to drop the van. I left the keys as it says sign and they can’t find it after 4 days passed after I dropped off! Manager is extremely unprofessional and rude. I was saying open when I came there but it was closed and he is calling me and saying just gonna charge me

Reserved truck on Saturday for Sunday and went to pick up. No one was there so I could not get my rental. Says location is open til noon and it was 11am. Another guy also had a reservation and was trying to pick up his truck. Looks like a seedy place too!!! Has phone number on door and when I called it to find out about the truck, nobody answered. Now I have a $75 No Show fee on my credit card and Budget can't see the charge and tells me to call the location. I called the location and they said they didn't do it, call Budget. STAY AWAY from this place!!!!

Apparently this business, and all budget trucks are all operated under the same persons management, if you can even call it that. I had a reservation for a pickup for the North Elston location in Chicago. An individual called the day before and stated they wouldn’t be open the next day and that I would either have to magically come in at the 20min time frame they stated in order to pickup the cargo van I reserved.That timeframe wasn’t going to happen, so they told me to call customer service to get a new location. Well that’s when the “inventory manager” rerouted my reservation to the this budget location, in niles. I make sure to get to this location which is already 15miles away from my original pickup, on time. I get there at 9, the time that their business states they’re open, and the time customer service stated they were open. NOPE! No one in sight.So another call to customer service and they state that they would put me in contact with the inventory manager again, to find a truck for me. But here’s the kicker, ALL OF the Chicagoland locations (Elston Ave, Western Ave, Niles, Skokie) are operated by the same individual that canceled last minute. Don’t waste your time in trying to get anyone on the phone and don’t even waste your time with customer service because they aren’t even made aware that these locations are not actually open and accepting the reservations that customers are making.Moving is already stressful and Budget Rental that much more stressful in having to find a new rental truck last minute. And this situation is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I’ll never use Budget again! Don’t even waste your time.

I reserved a truck 45 days in advance. The day before the move they called to tell me that instead of an 8am pickup time, it would instead be 3:30pm and that I would need to drive to another location to pick it up (30 minutes away). Having already booked movers, I said I would make it work.Then the next day, they called at noon to say that the truck wouldn't be there for another 24 hours! That would have meant me having to pay my movers twice and Budget was just like 'sorry, you're reservation isn't guaranteed' Sooo, for obvious reasons I went to Uhaul and will go there first in the future as well. Also my 26' truck ended up being cheaper at Uhaul so that was a pleasant surprise. Penske was A LOT more.
