It used to be a great place to shop at. The buffet is tiny now, no salad bar, & they rarely cook your meat at this location anymore due to shortage of employees.

This once was my favorite location however over the past 2 plus yrs it has constantly gotten worse each time I go.Check the dates on everything from the shelves! If it's not out of date it's close to being out of date. With the exception of the 3 cashiers who handle the registers, there is little to no customer service.4/24 I went to the deli to purchase an advertised salad, mind you this is a deli item, I asked the woman in the deli if they had this salad. She said it's with the salads upfront which I.found odd but went to look of course it wasn't there. As I passed by the deli again she said was it there and I said No it's a deli item. She laughed literally laughed and said I know. Wow inappropriate and ru!de

I love Mariano’s. It’s like the best combination of Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. Prices are fair (and even lower than Jewel Osco) but the quality is high, and selection of products is great. Lines are not too bad even on the weekends.

Placed two delivery orders and neither went well. For the latest one, Instacart found that the store was out of the soba noodles I wanted. Their solution was to substitute three bananas. They also were kind enough to substitute jumbo avocados that were four times the price of the regular avocados that were sold out. The jumbos are not four times bigger. Or even two times bigger.

The most awful Mariano's around. Boxes of merchandise all over the aisles. ONE register is ever open. The deli guy cleans the floor and garbage between serving customers. The meat guys have long hair and beards and never wear hair nets. Gross! I stopped buying my cold cuts and meats there a year ago. The last straw was when I had a grocery cart full of items and NO registers were open! They expected me to do self checkout for around 100 items. I just left my full cart there at the register and walked out. I've never been back. Now I shop at Fresh Farms down the street. Much better service, incredible deli, multiple registers open, prices are comparable.

Sale ad for Barilla pasta indicated five for $5.00. Checker knew nothing about the ad. Called the Manager, who looked at the sale ad the bagger gave her. She said it was selected items only, which wasn’t clear in the ad as the ad included soda as one of the five possible items to purchase. The ad reads selected sizes for the soda, not the pasta. The Manager couldn’t comprehend this. I’m not certain she can read, nor comprehend what she is reading. She took a photo of the ads on the shelf, which were only for bags of ready made pasta, not what I was purchasing. This is not a new problem in this store as several people I know said they purchase a sale item, and it is rung up for the original price. The store mid-day had few customers and there were abandoned carts in every aisle I was in.It was once a nice store, but now terrible. I won’t be back.

First off, for a little background, I have been a long-time proponent of Mariano's ever since you opened a store near my previous house in Vernon Hills. You guys had a plethora of quality, name-brand, and unique offerings at a reasonable price. That being said, your recent changes to Mariano's product line-up/ethos have managed to completely destroy that reputation within a matter of weeks, and for the life of me I just can't understand the logic behind this decision. The most egregious issue is the newly resulted lack of selection for semi-premium non-housebrand products is absolutely atrocious, and this is especially so for the deli/hot food bar. The quality has plummeted, and you removed numerous brands which were literally the only reason I and many of my family/friends patronized your store to begin with (i.e. - Greenridge Farms, Grande, Nathan's, and no more soup bar to name a few).If you were trying to make yourselves into a more expensive analog to Jewel then congratulations, but I just can't imagine that is your goal. Especially here in the Northshore of Chicago where many folks expect much better from your company.
